Chapter 46

Winwin's POV

"GIMME THAT NECTAR! GIMME THAT GIMME THAT GIMME THAT-"

"Guys, shut up! People are trying to sleep!"

I roll over in bed, still half asleep. I think that was Kun shutting up Hendery and Yangyang as they went through their morning vocal warm-ups.

"What was that?" A female voice drifts over to me from the other side of the room. I jump in surprise and whip my head towards the left.

Since when did Lucas turn into a girl?

Oh, wait a minute... Chunmei is here, right. Lucas is normal, probably sleeping in Ten's room, and Chunmei is in here with me. Everything is under control. Well, except for our morning alarms, and they're basically impossible to control.

Then I remember that Chunmei asked me a question. "Don't mind them, this is basically a daily thing by now. You can go back to sleep if you want."

"Oh, I see. I'll get up now, I guess," she laughs, tossing her blanket off and throwing her legs over the side of the bed. How did she just get up without even hesitating-

"Yeah, I think we have a schedule today, so I'll get up, too," I agree, copying her actions.

Chunmei swings the door open and walks out into the hallway, allowing the familiar morning chatter floating through the dorm to get louder.

Then everything goes silent.

I tilt my head, straining to hear any sign of movement. Nothing. Has my hearing finally given out? Or maybe I've gone insane...?

I slowly tiptoe towards the door, my heart beating erratically. This is a million times more terrifying than that movie that we watched yesterday, and that's saying something. Actually, I feel like I'm living in a real life horror movie.

I finally summon the courage to open the door, my brain spinning with questions. They're not all dead, right? I really shouldn't be watching these movies.

Nope, they're all alive and standing in the hallway... 

Oh. 

OH. 

OH NO.

There, standing in the living room, is our manager.

I forgot that he was coming to the dorms today. I didn't think he'd come so soon! We don't even have practice until 1:00 in the afternoon today, which means he's 3 hours early!

"So... who are you?" he finally asks Chunmei, breaking the awkward silence. I locate each member of WayV and see them all completely frozen, no one uttering a word. At least we can all speak the same language, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

"Um... well... my name is Chunmei... uh... how are you?" Chunmei stammers, breaking eye contact with our manager. He's been glaring at her, probably ever since he saw her.

Manager nim rolls his eyes. "I'm infuriated and about to throw you out of this dorm and report you for trespassing and violating the privacy of idols, that's how I am."

Chunmei widens her eyes in surprise. "Oh, well, um... cool?"

Thankfully, just then, Kun steps in and saves the day. "Calm down, we invited her here. She's not trespassing or anything like that, and you don't need to be so aggressive, either, by the way."

"So now you guys are inviting people to your dorms without informing the person trying to keep you guys safe? Do you think that you don't need to tell me about this now? Is that what it is?
Is this girl somebody's girlfriend? Are you all secretly dating behind my back? Is this how it is now? First you go and disrespect your stylist, and now this?
Do you not care about your reputations? Are you trying to make my job even harder than it already is?
You guys frustrate me a lot. I can't believe I'm actually considering quitting my job! This is what you guys have made me do. Are you guys proud? I'm disappointed in you all!" he snaps, going on a whole rampage, complete with his own wild hand gestures and flailing arms.

Ten sighs, shaking his head. "You do realize that we have freedom too, right? We have personal lives, too. Which brings me to the point of, why are you here so early anyways?"

Manager nim doesn't respond. He's busy studying Chunmei's face, which has got to be making her very uncomfortable at the least. "I've seen you somewhere. Are you that person who managed to get our Winwin into a whole scandal?"

Chunmei doesn't respond. She looks like she's in shock. I feel so bad that she has to experience this. What is going on with our manager? He's going to scare her off!

I have to say something. I can't stand this anymore.

"Manager, no nim, are you sure you're okay in the head? If anything, you're the one who's been acting off recently. Your job is not only to protect us, but to give us our personal freedom, too.
And we've been trying to make your job as easy as possible. Tell us, how many scandals have we gotten ourselves into since we debuted? Do you want us to make your job hard? Because we can do that. It sure seems like it's what you're asking for.
And about the whole stylist thing, you wouldn't even listen to our side of the story. I wouldn't be surprised if you're hitting on her or something, because it sure looks like that's exactly what you're doing.
You can go off and quit. I'm sure we can find a manager better than you. In fact, I think that any manager could do a better job than you. Heck, even Chunmei right here, a person who has no experience and doesn't even speak Korean, could do better than you!
Come on, stop being so selfish unless you want to lose your job. In fact, I'm thinking about telling the CEO about you right now!" I rant, only stopping because I need more air. Oh, how the tables have turned on our manager.

The look on his face is absolutely priceless. I think that I've always come off as the type of shy, quiet idol who would never disrespect their manager. Well, there was that time I went off at Chunli, but I didn't think I'd have to do it again.

That was the last straw for me, though.

I also don't think he's even been spoken to like that. He's never been exposed like that before, despite the fact that he's not exactly the best manager. 

Actually, I'm starting to think that I might've hit the nail right on the head. Does he really have a thing for Chunli? That would be insane.

Then again, so much has been going on recently that I wouldn't be surprised. Two minutes ago, I was in bed listening to Hendery and Yangyang sing Nectar at the top of their lungs. What a turn of events this is.

I glance around and remember that WayV and Chunmei are here, too, their jaws dropped. Yangyang lifts his hands and starts slowly clapping, slowly joined by the rest of the group and Chunmei.

I can't believe I just did that.
