Previously:
As she was about to sleep again, something cold touched her feet making her spring up right.

"Ooh chineke what is this one now? Efe put her Nokia torch on to check but it was only water from her night food on the table.
She dropped back to sleep but sprung up again almost immediately. She just felt her legs for the first time in five going on six freaking years.
"Ewo!" She exclaimed but not too loud to attract Ese. She slapped her hand over her mouth before calming down enough to rub her legs.
She felt it again."'NO!" The corners of Efe's lips curved upward, she tried wiggling her toes but even she, knew that wouldn't be possible seeing she hadn't used them in a long while.

She paused.
'Does this mean that what i heard my mom and Dr Ngozi saying was about me?
It was, wasn't it?
Why the hell wouldn't they want me to walk?' She thought as emotions flooded her mind.
Betrayal, Hate, Anger and Hurt.

What had she done to deserve this? What had she done for them to think taking her legs and almost her life was a good punishment?
She was going to learn how to walk again and then she would find out for herself!

For the following few hours, she willed herself to walk, forgetting sleep and fueling her determination with anger and curiosity.

4:50am
Efe threw her legs out of the bed carefully, as she made her way to the body length mirror at the side of her bed. She stood to her full length, ignoring the pain at her hips as she looked over her full long false dreadlocks, down to her plump pink lips, full chest, small waist and wide hips. Her legs were in good shape, thanks to the daily exercises that Dr Ngozi ordered for her legs.
Efe adjusted her big grey T-shirt then her flabby short shorts. Today was Saturday, her mom and brother were supposed to come for a visit today. She would confront her about this later today but now, it was time to sleep. She went back into her bed to sleep forgetting to take her medicine for nightmares and headache.

••••°°°°••••°°°°
"Leave my brother alone" a voice bit out angrily. Efe turned towards the voice to see a little girl no older than eleven or twelve. She held out her hands in front of herself in a defensive mode

"No! Wetin you fit do?" Taunted the female bully, her friends laughed as she pushed the six year old boy around.

"I said leave him alone!" She screamed advancing dangerously.
Suddenly the dream blurred and a sharp and intense pain shot up her spinal cord to the back of her head. An ear-splitting shriek awoke her from her sleep only for her to realize it was coming from her. She couldn't talk or move, everything she saw was wavy and blurry, a few nurses ran in along with some aproko people too. After minutes of struggling with her they were able to inject her with a mixture of sedatives to help her calm down and take away her pain.

...Few minutes after 12pm...

"No no... She's not awake yet. The sedative is supposed to knock her out for about ten hours more. That's enough for you to leave with the boy... I'll keep her here as long as I can. Yes... I will use force if necessary." A beep from the doctors phone signified the end of the call.

Efe watched through thick lashes, as the doctor locked her room door. Dr Ngozi brought out a small syringe from her pocket and made her way to her supposedly knocked out patient.

"I hope you brought a gun too because I'll kill you if you take another step closer" A dark side of Efe surged forward a little through her eyes, just enough to make to doctor freeze in her step.

"And how do you expect to do that, you paralyzed goat?" Ngozi laughed as she continued towards the girl. The doctor was a naturally rude person but this was extreme.

Efe shook visibly earning a wicked grin from the witch doctor who was now an arms length away from the bed.

'Do people usually change this drastically?? How' she thought.

Doctor Ngozi armed herself with death in a syringe, as she bent over the poor girl watching her intently "I will kill you and not even your mother will care, you know why? Because you are just a disgusting little rag that was tossed into my hospital by a woman you think is your mother"
Efe could not understand why Dr Ngozi was acting the way she did towards her, she had never done anything wrong to the doctor. Or had she?

Her eyes widened, things were starting to fall in place and make sense all of a sudden. 'But why can't i remember anything from my past? Why is my life changing so fast??'
"That's right... Little rat! She isn't your mother, she just..." Efe's hand shot up to the doctor's chin, holding it in place while the other grabbed her armed hand and squeezed it harshly until the injection fell to the floor.

"You know, I recently started disliking you" Efe spat. The sweet curious girl who wrote in her diary a few hours ago was no where to be found. Instead a hateful person sat in her place. Shock registered on Ngozi's face as she realized what a huge mistake she had made. Efe grabbed her face a little tighter before flinging her to the floor as she got up; the doctor scrambled away from her.
"Now let's put that awfully loud voice of yours to work" She winked at the injection now in her hand then at the shaking doctor.
