-peeks out from behind a wall- Heyyy. Long time no see. Inspiration hit me like a brick after rewatching Save the Cat, and thought it was finally time to come back. Hope I still have an audience to come back to. Enjoy :)
TW: Mentions of violence and blood. Intrusive thoughts of low self worth and Catra's AMAZING mental health. A slight panic attack. If I missed anything, let me know.
When Catra looked at herself, she usually saw nothing good. A person who was ruined as a child and became a monster. She saw a girl who would forever hold painful memories and trauma. Eyes that never looked normal, ears and a tail she wished she could make disappear. Looking down at her hands, Catra saw sharp and deadly objects. Weapons that had been used to hurt the people she loved most. She saw blood on them that could never be washed away. Mistakes she could never make up for or undo. She saw the destruction that she was capable of.
Catra hated her claws.
So, she opted to not to look or think about them. It wasn't always easy. She couldn't help but think about it during the rebuilding of cities and streets. She had to look at her own reflection when dealing with reflective glass, be aware of her own body whenever physical contact happened with Adora or someone else, be reminded of the power of her claws whenever she wasn't careful enough while handling clothing or a delicate item. It was just unavoidable.
She hated it, but couldn't get away from it. She still tried though, and the others were starting to notice it.

"How do I look?"Adora glanced over her shoulder. She saw Catra standing a few feet away, a hand on her hip, looking at her. Adora's eyes roamed over the outfit of choice. It was cute. Her outfit was a maroon spaghetti-strapped tank top, with black jeans shorts. It matched her gold ear piercings that many Magicats had. It definitely made her eyes stand out. Adora smiled.
"I like it. Looks beautiful, baby." She praised.
Catra spun in a circle, partially showing off, but not wanting to be obvious. Adora would give her the attention she wanted. Catra deserved it. Catra looked down at her outfit, scrutinizing the clothing.
"Yeah? Nothing that needs fixing or whatever?" She questioned.
Adora snorted. She sat at the edge of their bed, finishing up lacing up her shoes.
"Why ask me and not go look in a mirror yourself, Cat?" She asked, raising a brow.
"No." Catra's face morphed, not exactly panicked, and not aggressive. Intense.
Adora thought her tone of voice was strange. It wasn't defiance, Catra not wanting to do something just to get a rise out of Adora. This was a downright refusal, as if the idea was the worst idea. Looking at her girlfriend, Adora saw a look on Catra's face. The one that said, 'how dare you suggest that. Are you for real?'.
"What do you mean no?" Adora, raisied a brow. "Just look at yourself, you goof. It's a mirror. Not a monster."
Catra scoffed, unable to stop herself.
"I know that." She muttered. "C'mon. Let's just go. Sparkles and Arrow are probably already there. So, hurry up."
Today, the Best Friend Squad was taking a visit into one of the towns. Glimmer had insisted on showing Catra around, claiming that the Magicat needed to get out more and see Etheria. Probably just an excuse to drag Catra around all day to stores and stuff. Adora was on Catra-wrangling duty, according to Glimmer, and Catra's getaway, if Adora was actually being honest. She'd keep an eye on Catra, so if Glimmer was pushing her to her comfort limit, she'd step in and whisk Catra away for a while to recharge. As soon as they met up with Glimmer and Bow, they'd gone to stalls with clothing, cool weaponry, and magical items that Adora wouldn't dare touch. Poor Bow was holding all of Glimmer's bags, though he seemed happy to do so.
