Amadeus's POV
I couldn't quite put my finger on what was making my sense go off when I noticed something falling out of the helicopter that was swirling towards the ground at a fast pace.
The thing was flailing its arms, and squinting through the blinding light of the sun, I could see that the thing was a human and wearing something brown and black.
Something brown and black?
I realized that Ken had swung off to see what was happening inside there, and I then ran up to a still-standing building, using my stickiness at the bottom of my feet to climb up the building as fast as I could.
Come on Am, you can't let her fall...
I went as fast as I could towards the end of the building and then shot a web at a street pole not too far from the building and began to swing towards Ken.
McKenzie's POV:
What the hell was happening?! I was falling out of the helicopter when I can't even remember what pushed me or how I landed outside of the helicopter. What couldn't shake my mind was the blank look of the pilot of the helicopter.
As I kept falling and flailing my arms helplessly, I looked behind me and saw many feet below me the damage that had been done.
It's like 9/11 all over again.
I couldn't web anything- I was too far from any street poles or buildings to shoot a web, and shooting a web at the helicopter wouldn't help because it wouldn't get me any aerial jumps.
Then, I suddenly stopped falling. I felt some arms around my abdomen and my thighs. I opened my eyes and through the eyes of my suit, I saw Am.
I didn't dare to say anything as he swung and landed on a building that didn't have any damage done and it was standing.
"You okay?" I heard Am say as I climbed out of his arms and dusted myself off. I was a little uneasy from falling but other than that I was fine as it seemed. I noticed that I had a few cuts here and there on my suit, exposing bits of my skin to the world.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I say as I take in a few deep breaths and I calm my hammering heart down.
"You sure? You were just falling from a-"
"Amadeus. I'm fine." I say assuringly.
The eyes of his suit then squinted as if he was thinking about something, and then he let it go. There was a long and awkward silence filling the area between us besides the blaring sirens of the police cars and ambulances.
"Is everyone safe?" I say, daring to look up at him as his eyes then widen back.
"Yeah, everyone's okay as it looks like," Am says as he glances over his shoulder to look at the mess, and then back at me.
"Good," I nod slightly. "Then we can make sure everything's okay before we get a move on," I say as I fiddle with my hands awkwardly.
Without my sense, I could feel that he still wanted to apologize for what happened at the house.
There was another awkward silence that filled the room.
"Yeah," Am says after a minute. Before I could swing off again, Am grabs my wrist, nearly crushing my shooters underneath.
I turn to look at him and he had pulled his mask off, it dangling in his left hand that he gripped it in.
"Am! Do you know how dangerous it is to-" I get cut off when he then pulls me to him like he's trying to hug me.
The fuck? What is he doing?
My eyes squint at him in confusion and then he wraps his arms around me hugging me.
Even though it wasn't the right moment at all, I didn't resist for a weird reason.
Amadeus's POV:
I had the bad feeling that I was making a wrong move deep into my gut, but I ignored it and kept hugging Ken. After a minute when I could sense her confusion and uncomfortableness, I let go.
"Why did you do that?" Her voice filling with confusion left me thinking I was making one of the dumbest decisions a guy could make.
"I wanted to do that to say sorry for everything...for leaving you, for telling your mom that stuff, for just appearing out of nowhere," I awkwardly laugh. "The list just keeps going but I'm saying I'm sorry for all the shit I pulled." I reach my hand back behind my head to scratch it.
Her eyes widen and she tilts her head to the side to not look at me.
"It's fine," Ken says after a few seconds of silence.
Wait, what?
I raise my eyebrow in confusion, and I pull my mask back over my face.
"What do you mean? I thought you were still pissed at me or something." I tilt my head to the side slightly.
"Well," Ken starts as her gaze comes back to me. "Mind if we don't talk about this here?"
I nod.
"Probably the best choice."
