It was a well-known fact throughout the European Wizarding World that the Murphy family is a respected family. They were one of the richest families around, full of pure-bloods — yet also half-bloods and squibs.
The big family differed from the other high-class Wizarding ones, like the Malfoys, mainly in world and societal views; especially the most famous branch of the family.
Otto and Aoife Murphy, known as quite the revolutionary couple. The two fought side by side in many battles as young aurors, and they were both awarded First Merlin Class. Aoife was the person who proposed, and Otto took her last name and married into the family.
They already differed from the majority of couples and society's expectations simply from those two things. However, there were many other things that made them "revolutionary."
The two children they rescued during the Wizarding War, Lucas Davies and (Y/n) (L/n) carry on the family legacy and expectations with ease. The Ravenclaw lad didn't shine as bright as his sister, but he makes up for that in his brilliance for all charms and spells — just like his talented mother.
(Y/n)'s persona to others was clear, considering the nickname she had been christened with, the "Slytherin Princess." Her expertise ranges from Transfiguration, and Defence Against the Dark Arts, to none other than the power to simply charm and infatuate almost everyone who laid eyes on her.
This summer, this branch of the esteemed Murphy family will be hosting the annual Murphy Ball. The annual ball was something that has occurred every year throughout several generations. It's basically a fancy family reunion with some guests, in the form of a ball, where the Murphys' truly show off how loaded they are with cash.
And more than anything, (Y/n) despised the ball, which is unlucky for her. The Murphy Ball is going to take place in four days at her family's manor in the English countryside.
"If I have to go can I wear a suit?" (Y/n) asked her mother. "I know that it's a traditional-like ball, but we're not really a traditional family."
"Of course you can wear a suit, grá. But I thought you actually liked wearing your gown-like dress with the Murphy colours."
"I do, but I'm so done with the heterosexual plus-ones asking me to dance. Hopefully wearing a suit will make them leave me alone for once."
"Don't let others affect what you want to wear — just wear what makes you feel like a bad bitch," instructed Aoife in her motherly tone, before adding cheerfully, "If you really do wanna wear a suit, then let's go visit father and brother's suit maker!"
That sentence made (Y/n) beam with joy and enthusiastically nod her head. "Brilliant idea, Mum!"
