A slight smirk appears across my face. "Tom . . . I don't think this is even legal. I mean, a Mianite dating a Dianite? The gods would murder us brutally! Actually . . . Dianite might only do that."
He looks down. "Well, I mean. They don't have to know . . ."
"But Leah would spill. I mean, do you really think we can have a secret relationship? You're always staying with Tucker or Jordan, and I live with Leah, so . . ."
He frowns. "I understand." he says in a sad tone, starting to walk away.
I quickly put my arm on his shoulder before he could go any farther down the walk. He stops in his tracks. I walk up to him and whisper in his ear, "But I'd be willing to risk anything for you."
