the next day Neji and I went to Ichiraku but stopped when we saw a bunch of girls surrounding the place

As we went closer I saw a guy sitting there finishing his ramen before standing up and heading out but stopped when he saw me, he looked familiar. Once he got past all the girls he stopped in front of me,

''are you y/n l/n'' he asked and I nodded

''and your Daiki Kitamura, arent you'' I asked and he nodded yes with a smile on his face. Neji asked me how I knew him and I told him he was the number 1 prodigy before Akihiro and he joined before everyone else

''I came to fight'' he said with a smug look on his face

''arent you too old to fight''

''I am only 25'' he answered as he crossed his arms

I  slowly nodded and told him I was quite busy, he  asked me if I was going on a date and my face flushed red, and then calmed down and told him yes.

He told me we will fight tomorrow which we did. The next morning we were at our training ground a few people were gathering around, I went to go ask Lady Tsunade if it's fine if we fight and she said as long as no one in the village gets hurt

I just stood there analyzing his power, he was quite strong. I could see why he was the number 1, but looking at his stamina and how much chakra he has I would say he is just a bit stronger than Akihiro.

I have no idea what powers he uses, what jutsu, if he has a kekkai Genkai, the only thing I know about him is that he can be dangerous and I saw a picture of him in the hideout with the previous prodigies that were before us

he made the first move and I dodged, about 30 minutes later, he was laying on the floor with me sitting on top of him (He was on his stomach so I was sitting on his back' I could hear he was tired, but he was a good opponent, I haven't had someone to fight since I came back from training.

I wanted to test out my new strengths and I was pretty strong, I could only imagine how strong I will be when I can use full power, I then stood up and helped him up

''you're strong'' he complimented me

''thank you, and you're a good opponent'' I bowed

''I came here to test your strength, a lot of people want you dead'' he warned me, couldn't he have said that less bluntly ''I wanted to test your strength since the rumor is you have grown weak''

I then nodded and thanked him.

I left and saw Neji waiting for me, and I hugged him telling him am exhausted, tomorrow was my birthday and I planned on staying in bed. Like is said before I don't really like my birthday and Mayu always made me a cake but she is gone too, so no more traditions.

Neji then chuckled and told me I should go home and rest the sun was about to set and I told him before I go can we go watch the sunset and he nodded, we went to our secret place and sat down

Neji asked me what we are doing tomorrow since nothing happens tomorrow. I felt a pain in my heart, did Neji forget it's my birthday tomorrow. I told him I have no idea, I told him I would probably just stay home and then come over and we can watch a movie or something and he said that sounded nice, we stood up after talking for about 2 hours, Neji took me home and kissed me goodnight and I went straight to bed

3rd person pov:

the next morning y/n was still asleep until she heard a knock on her door, she went to open it and saw Neji holding a cake with a smile on his face

''happy birthday, I baked you a cake" it reminded her of Mayu, ''this could become our new tradition, you know it might not be as good as Mayu-'' he was going to continue before he saw y/n was crying and hequickly went in and put the cake down a ''what's wrong''

''I am just really happy'' she hugged him before kissing him. You began s eating the cake just like you did with Mayu at the hideout each year for your birthday

''How did you know'' y/n asked Neji right before they left

''I spoke to the prodigies and they told me, they also gave me a few ideas'' Neji smiled at her as he opened the door

when they were done y/n was happy already and Neji told ME it was just the beginning
