Downtime

All the kids sat in a circle away from the adults.

Alec crawled into Marie's lap as she sobbed.

Ariel ran her hand over her back, and tried to sooth her best friend.

"Marie, it's your birthday. Come on. Let's do something fun." She smiled.

She looked up at her best friend, and then looked at everyone else.

"You're right." Marie agreed wiping her eyes.

"Wanna go into the pool?" Luke smirked.

"Are you insane?" Ariel cried.

"No, but our grandpa is Poseidon, and water is awesome." He told his twin sister.

Ariel rolled her eyes.

"Fine. I'll change. But this better be fun." Marie said as she stood to put on her bathing suit.

The pool was warm.

That Marie had to admit.

Ariel laughed as he brother sprayed her with water, her blonde hair flying everywhere.

She blasted him, and he flew under the water his blonde hair becoming soaked.

Marie watched and laughed at the identical twins.

Then Charlie sat next to her.

"Hey." He muttered.

"Hi." Marie replied looking at him.

He was holding something in his hands.

"This is for you." He stuttered his face reddening.

"Thanks." Marie smiled.

She took the thing from his hands, and opened the tiny box.

It was a charm bracelet.

There was a wave charm, a lightning charm, a sun charm, a skull charm, a music note charm, and a heart charm.

"It's so beautiful. I love it!" She cried.

Then he took her hand.

"Lemme put it on for you." He smiled his gray eyes shining.

She gave him the bracelet, and he wrapped it around her tiny wrist.

"Thanks." She smiled.

And then Charlie leant forward, and kissed the girl's cheek.

"Happy Birthday Marie." He smiled. "You wanna swim?"

"Yes. I do." She smiled, and they entered the pool.

Marie almost passed out when she saw her little brother riding a goldfish.

Charlie laughed, and so did she.

"Alec be careful! And Sammy, wow!" She cried while laughing.

And Marie thought she saw the giant goldfish smile.

"Marie! Come here!" Ariel then called.

She swam over to her best friend, with Charlie following her.

"Look at Esperanza!" She smiled.

And she looked at the girl.

Esperanza was fascinated by the fire sprouting from her hand, and Marie had to admit, she looked adorable.
