"Baby!" Damien chuckled as Lily jumped down the last two steps of the stairs into his strong arms. She smiled, nuzzling her head into his neck. The kitchen had the faint smell of the pizza they had previously made and devoured. Alyssa had already gone home and it was close to the time that the pair usually went to bed.

Lily had created a major problem for herself- Damien had become her home. And while she knew that this wouldn't last forever and he would leave her one day too, she couldn't help the joy and love she felt from the man who payed attention to every little detail about her. She didn't want to think of him holding another girl the way he held her, she knew it was wrong because he would never want her like that. But she couldn't help the way she thought. Every morning he would press his lips to her forehead knowing how much she loved his forehead kisses and every night he would hold her and make her feel like the world was safe enough for her to sleep in.

She loved him more than she should.

And she knew it was stupid- she was much younger than him and he probably viewed her as a little sister which made her heart feel like a broken mirror, shattered into a million different pieces. But sometimes, she convinced herself that he liked her more than that like when he would pull her onto his lap and tell her how pretty she was. She blushed at the thought of his rough voice cooing " my pretty little girl."

Lily snapped out of her thoughts when she felt Damien set her down on the kitchen counter. She hadn't even noticed his phone ringing until then.

"Hello?" He answered. There was a pause before a smile lit up his face. "Reyna, I haven't heard from you in forever. How have you been?"

Lily's heart sank. I guess that day is today. Her lips formed a pout and she held in tears. She manifested her sadness into anger, hoping it would help her not cry. It worked but the guilt she felt for wishing harm upon Reyna was still painful. How could she deal with the man she wanted as hers with another woman?

"I've been good," He said, shooting Lily a smile. She didn't smile back.

"Yeah, we can meet at Lyssa's cafe tomorrow at 10:30?" Another long pause. Lily scrunched her nose.

"Okay, bye Reyn," Damien said, putting his phone down.

He walked over to Lily, draping his arms on either sides of her legs.

"I'm tired... n-night," Lily blurted jumping off the counter and scurrying up the stairs, not looking back.

"What? You okay, flower?" She heard him say, but she didn't respond.

She went to her room and closed the door. She was already in her PJs, but quickly changed out of the shirt she wore- it had been Damien's. The man who was seeing another woman now. She had to respect him and her. The tears ran down her cheeks silently as she threw on a tank top and a pair of shorts before slipping into her bed, wrapping her arms tightly around a pillow trying to convince herself it was Damien.

She didn't know how much time had passed but she wasn't asleep when she heard the door to her bedroom open. She quickly shut her eyes and tried to make her breathing as even as possible.

His hand caressed her cheek his rings cold against her warm cheek. He sat down on the edge of the bed, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

"I love you more than you could ever know, princess," he whispered. It was taking every last ounce of control in his body to not pick her up and cradle her as he carried her to his room where they always slept together, her in his arms.

With a sigh, her got up, closing the door behind him. Lily frowned and let out a huff of annoyance knowing she wouldn't be able to get much sleep that night.

The sun had barely risen when Lily woke up. She lay in bed for a while, her thoughts consuming her. Making her way down the stairs, she cut a bagel in half and toasted it.

She didn't feel hungry but she knew she had to eat something.

She usually made her and Damien a better breakfast but today she was upset but she would never be too upset to make sure Damien was okay.

As the toaster dinged, in walked the man she didn't want to see.

She stared up at him, then got up and walked to grab her bagel.

"The other one if for you," she muttered.

"Huh, no good morning for me?" Damien teased, walking over to her and wrapping his warm arms around her body.

"Hmph," she yawned. She knew the bags under her eyes were severe. Wiggling out of his arms, she walked back over to the island where she spread butter on her bagel.

"Why aren't you wearing my shirt pretty girl?"

She looked back up to see Damien a frown on his face, his intense dark eyes staring at her. She shrugged looking back down.

"What's wrong?" He asked softly, walking over to her seat. She took a bite of her bagel, forcing herself to swallow it.

"N-nothing," she mumbled. Her phone dinged and the screen lit up. Damien handed it to her and she thanked him.

"Charlie's gonna pick me up today... I'm going to go get ready," Lily said, taking a 2nd bite of her bagel before she guiltily threw it away.

"You need to eat more than that," Damien scolded.

"D-don't tell me what to do," she sassily blurted.

"What was that?" Damien asked, bewildered.

"Don-Don't tell me what to do."

She felt his eyes analyze her before he walked up to her, and forced her to look up at him.

"Watch that little attitude or you won't like the consequences," he said sternly, making Lily gulp.

"You won't like the consequences," she mocked under her breath.

"What was that?" Damien asked.

"I- n-nothing," she stuttered causing Damien to raise an eyebrow, a smirk plastered on his lips.

"I don't where you're getting this confidence little girl but I suggest you put it to better use somewhere else. Now I'm going to make you a pancake and you're gonna eat the whole thing or I will not let you leave this house, understand?"

I shouldn't feel butterflies, Lily thought as she nodded meekly.

"Uh, uh, uh words."

"I understand Mr. Grumpy Pants," Lily said, crossing her arms.
