Mary Richman has always been more interested in other people than herself.
She always states her opinions unapologetically, and has become scarily good at reading people, despite the fact that she's in a typically socially awkward profession.
Before...
"Heck yeah, Zoey's got powers." Mo stated seriously.
"Did she put you up to this? Are you three pranking me?" Max asked. We now sat in Mo's apartment, Mo and I sitting across from the other too as Mo explained the situation.
"Ain't nobody got time to prank you, boy. This is very, very, real Sir Max-a-lot."
"Mo's actually been helping us figure out how it works. He's been keeping tabs on the rules." Zoey added.
"The rules?" He questioned skeptically. "And just how many are there?"
"Well let's see," Mo pulled out his phone, "Zoey can hear Heart Songs-her term, not mine. The heart songs always reveal people's inner truth. Zoey has a responsibility to help people when she hears their songs, otherwise she'll be haunted by those songs, which we've learned is no bueno."
"An example of one of these interactions is the fact that I sang her a song about my 'love-hate' relationship with Leif, and because she made me aware of my feelings, I was able to get to the root of our problems and now we're together." I stated.
"Sometimes, time freezes when she hears a song," Mo continued, "Other times, they go-"
"Wait, wait, wait. So now Zoey can manipulate the laws of physics, too?" Max questioned. "This is really incredible."
"Ain't it, though?"
"He's being sarcastic." Zoey and I said in unison.
"Look Max, I know this is hard for you to believe, but its all true."
"Look, I-I would really love to believe it, its just that I need more concrete evidence and proof." Max told her.
"Ok. There might be one way to do that. But you're not gonna like it."
"What is it?"
"We're gonna have to go clubbing tonight with Tobin."
"Ok, Tobin is not that bad." I pointed out.
"Yeah ok, well you're looking at the world through Leif-colored glasses so..." Max said, causing me to narrow my eyes at him.

After an outfit change, we headed to a nightclub because apparently, Zoey had heard Tobin sing a heart song about something and was intending to help him in order to prove it to Max.
"You think Tobin will like these?" Zoey asked, two shot glasses in her hands.
"Shots of Goldschlager? Yeah. Its the official drink of douchebros trying to be classy." Max told her.
"Thanks for getting us in, Mo." Zoey said.
"No problem. Eddie's coming too. At least that's what I understood when I texted him 'wanna come'? And then he wrote back the letter 'Y', which I'm gonna assume is 'Yes' and not 'Y are you texting me? I'm not into you'."
