Kyoko's POV

I've been thinking for a while. Celeste and I have been dating for 2 and a half years, and my dad still didn't even know that I was gay. Celeste was pushing me to tell him, and I knew I should, but I was just scared. Luckily, something came up with the perfect opportunity.

Today I went back to my room for the first time in a while to see a letter on the ground, having been shoved through the letter hole.

"This is weird," I said aloud. I picked it up and sat on my bed, ripping it open.

Dear Kyoko,

How are you? I've been meaning to ask you for coffee earlier, but I have been so busy. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to speak to you. I was thinking Monday evening at 6. Please write me back so I can clear my schedule.

Sincerely, Jin Kirigiri

Of course. He can't even ask me to come, he has to write. Fuck him. But then again, I could use that chance to come out and come clean. I can always just leave, or Celeste could come.

I decided that I'd go.

I wrote a little note that just said "Ok", and gave it to his secretary on Sunday.

"Hello sweetie, what are you doing here?" I heard someone say.

I turned around and saw Celeste.

"Oh, hello," I said. "I was giving a note to my dad."

"Oh? For what?"

I explained how he wanted to meet with me and I finally agreed. I told her I wasn't scared, but I was. I'm just so mad at him.

"Anyway, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"Just returning a book," she said, gesturing at the library. "Wanna go home?" I nodded and she took my hand as we walked home.

The next day, I went to school as usual, chatting to a few people to try and ease my nerves. After school I did some homework in the library while Celeste looked for some books, and then we went to get dinner.

"Hey," Celeste said. "Don't be nervous."

I sighed. "Alright."

She walked me to his office, and Celeste said she'd wait in the library.

"Good luck," she said, hugging me tightly.

"Thanks," I responded, pulling away. I took a deep breath before opening the door.

"Hello, Kyoko," my dad smiled dryly.

I nodded and sat down.

"What did you need?"

"Can't a dad just check up on his daughter?" He laughed. My face didn't change.

"How's school? Am I running it good enough?" He asked.

"I mean, it's fine, it's school," I said.

"I hope I've been of help," he said.

I scoffed.

"Yes?" My dad asked.

"You've never been of help," I muttered, rolling my eyes.

"I think I've run this school greatly," he said defensively.

"Ok, but you haven't 'run me greatly'," I stood. "You kinda suck at being a dad."

Jin sighed. "Kyoko, you don't know what it's been like."

"Damn right I don't know!" I shouted. "I didn't abandon my daughter when her mom died!"

"It's not my fault!" He shouted back. "Your grandfather wouldn't help me at all! He wouldn't even let you see your dying mother."

"At least he stuck around," I said, crossing my arms. I started to tear up. Damn it! Not here, not now. Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Jin said seriously.

The door opened and Celeste peeked in. A look of relief washed over her when she saw me.

"What do you need?" Jin asked professionally.

"I-I..." I knew Celeste hadn't thought this through. "I was just checking in. I heard yelling!"

"Can students even check in on the headmaster of their school?" Jin asked himself. Suddenly I lost composure and a tear slipped down my cheek. Again without thinking, Celeste rushed over to hug me.

"Don't cry," she said, rubbing my back. I wrapped my arms around her, not caring what my dad thought.

"What is going on?" Jin asked, genuinely having no clue.

Celeste nodded as she looked into my eyes.

I turned and took a deep breath.

"Jin, I have something to tell you."

"Go on," he narrowed his eyes.

"I'm gay." i rlly don't know what i was planning to happen here

"Oh," Jin said. pls

"And this is my girlfriend, Celeste," I continued for not getting a reaction.

"The no-good gambler?" He asked.

"What?" I asked back. "No good?"

"Her father has told me about her," Jin said. "She rebelled against her family and destroyed the family name."

"She literally changed her name," I pointed out.

"Either way, she's probably not a good influence."

"Ok, you don't know the first thing about good influences," I said.

Jin sighed and stood up.

"I think we should end this meeting."

"I agree."

Jin walked over to the door and held it open, letting Celeste and I walk through.

"Thank you for talking to me," he said.

"Whatever," I replied as he shut the door. As soon as he was gone, I started sobbing.

"Oh, goodness," Celeste said as she hugged me.

"I feel so bad when I'm mean to him, but he deserves it," I cried.

"It's ok darling," Celeste said as she rubbed my back. "It's ok."

I continued crying as Celeste picked me up bridal style, surprisingly strong for her build, and carried me home.
