The stinging hand print still felt fresh on your cheek. It was your punishment for accidentally spilling your dad's glass of cold whiskey.
You were now far from your home, sitting on your boyfriend's cozy bed, tears pouring out of your eyes like waterfalls. You couldn't handle your father's abuse anymore, and you couldn't understand how your mom wasn't bothered by it either.
All you wanted was to run away with Corey, who was now gently wiping your tears away, before caressing the hand mark on your face.
"Why are they like this, Corey?" You asked, still sobbing, until Corey engulfed you in his arms.
"I don't know, babe, maybe you should come stay with me for awhile" Corey suggested "It'll take you away from their madness, for some time atleast"
You nodded, and managed a weak smile. That's when you realized how much you absolutely loved Corey. Afterall, he was so sweet and caring, and his warm embrace was like heaven.
"Thank you, Corey. I love you" You pecked his perfect lips, before feeling him place a soft kiss on your forehead afterwards.
