~Chapter Five~

The next day was madness. Someone had flooded my locker with something I never thought I’d live to be ashamed of. Printed pictures of someone’s panda bear underwear were posted on every board of the school, and a mass of them fell out of my locker.

“Oh my…” I couldn’t finish the statement as a collection of copies fell to my feet as more toppled out of my locker.

Meredith was the first to blow up laughing, and soon afterward it was followed by others. My cheeks flamed bright red, my eyes were wide with shock and fear, and my fists were turning white as I clutched the steel doors.

“Hello Panda Bear,” I knew the mocking voice way too well for my licking. With a deep inhaled, counting to ten backwards, I turned around with a charming smile. He’d been expecting that, I realised.

“Elliot, how wonderful to see you this morning,” I said. Elliot’s smirk was in place and his arms bulged as he crossed them… it was surprisingly delirious.

“Chrystal?” I was astounded to see my little brother there, with one of the flyers. He looked between disgusted, mortified and plain right uncomfortable.

“Jonny!” he was an adorable kid for eleven years old, with big brown eyes, though he wore glasses, and shaggy blonde hair, the blonde we got from our mother.

Everyone quickly noticed the little boy, especially Elaine. “Oh my, he’s adorable,” she squealed, and before I knew it, Jonny was being fondled by three girls, one of them being Meredith.

Elliot seemed slightly uncomfortable, and I took the opportunity. “Not used to not being centre of attention?” I teased lightly.

He glanced my way, and rolled his eyes, but Jonny beat him to it, shrugging the girls off him. For a kid his age, he didn’t like attention on him. It came from being bombarded with paparazzi at every corner.

“Chrystal,” he called again, walking to me. He adjusted his glasses and levelled a stare on me. “As much as I like enjoying using your computer–”

“–Yet you have yours–”

“–It’s aggravating seeing your… unmentionables–”

“–You don’t have to,” I retorted, arms crossed but silently amused.

“–From every part of your room, even if it’s mostly tidy,” he amended, looking sincerely harmless. “But school is sanctuary, dear sister, and this,” he lifted the flier indicatively, “Is a total breach of contract.”

“Can he get any less adorable?” Meredith gushed, Elliot rolled his eyes. When he noticed my stare, he scowled.

I shook my head. “You should see his baby photos; he’ll knock you out like Private.” The girls giggled, Jonny blushed. “Just kidding. Earnestly, I didn’t mean that.”

He nodded, tossing the flyer on the ground where many others were. “Want me to take them off the web?” he asked.

My cheeks flushed again. No way! That was the worst thing he could have done considering how deep my family went, but he didn’t know that. Still, how do you post an indecent picture of someone on the web without their consent? It’s a violation? My glare was met with defiant blue eyes. “I told you you’d regret it.”

My breathing was erratic as I vigorously nodded. I officially hated Elliot Dupree. “It will cost you, though,” Jonny adjusted his glasses.

“Little brother,” I sang sweetly, fluttering my lashes.

Jonny sighed, threat received. “Of course, my reputation is on the line,” he mumbled, pocketing as he walked away. His shoulders were drooped, and he was pouting. A chorus of ‘awe’s followed him. “How could I forget?”

His trudging was slow, his shoulders were surely down, and his pout was getting longer and longer.

“Isn’t that how the bros and sis usually get us?” Chris, one of Elliot’s friends, said as he did a back handed smack against Elliot’s shoulder.

Elliot grinned. “Yup,” he said, and then glanced at me. “And it’s working.”

Of course it was working. It always seemed to work. He did the final straw. He innocently glanced up at Meredith, whose mouth was open and such joy was all over her. Ever seen melted chocolate get mixed with more honey. Yup, try a puppy dog look with brown eyes and shaggy brown hair and you have an older sister who feels like a witch.

“I’m going to tan your-”

He grinned cheekily, “bottom into a whole new level of red!” he finished smugly. “Don't care, I’m getting J&JCCCD.” He cheered as he ran off.

I chuckled. It definitely pulled out the sting whenever he was around. I sighed, glancing at the papers on the ground.

“Hey, what can he do anyway?” Elaine asked. I was waiting for that. “I mean he’s only what, ten, right? He’s offering to remove the pictures form the web. He’s just a kid, what could he possibly do?”

I sighed, squatting down carefully to pick up one of the fliers. Yup, I had to stop wearing embarrassing underwear. Payback was in order, of course.

I sighed again. “He’s a kid genius, that’s what,” I answered. “I’m sorry Mathew, but when it comes to my brother you’re way down.”

Mathew appeared flabbergasted. “Hell no,” he protested. “He’s barely a kid.”

I smirked, dropping the fliers to the ground as I closed my locker. “I say that’s the stance of a proud sister.”

I shrugged. “I have to be. He only has me,” I said. “Anyway, he hacked into our old school and rewired an order for lunch to have ice-cream desert. He loves his ice-cream.”

Mathew’s smile faded and Elaine laughed, which was mean of her. “I’m sorry,” she gasped. “No way. How old is the kid?”

I shrugged, walked off. They followed. “Eleven.” I think I broke Mathew’s ego. Either way, Elliot didn’t get his revenge, but now it was my turn.

Mine took until the next day. It involved stalking the guy way past six in the evening, and when I got my info, I knew I went too deep. But Elliot had to understand one thing: I wasn't a push over.

With careful orchestration and proper monitoring, copies made with substitute measures, I was ready to go. Oh, yes, how could I forget the lovely basket I’d personally baked?
