Elijah

As they sat in Kaeden's living room, Elijah, Allen and Kaeden's thoughts wandered around, each of them contemplating how they could spend the evening. The silence had definitely not been part of the equation in class.

Finally, Elijah said, "It definitely wasn't this awkward in school." He sighed and rubbed his hand over his eyes; he was exhausted.

He saw Kaeden shake his head at the blunt comment; Elijah grimaced, realizing Allen definitely did not need to write moody and arrogant as his personality traits. He figured he could at least try to be a bit more thoughtful from now.

She, however, just shrugged and said, "Let's just watch a movie, I guess. Share our opinions on it later and then add it to the file." When both boys nodded, she sheepishly added, "Could you grab some blankets first, please, Kaeden? I'm freezing."

Kaeden chuckled and said, "Sure; you guys can scroll through Netflix and find something to watch. I'll be there in a bit."

The two of them made their way to the living room, sitting in comfortable silence while browsing through the various movie options available to them.

Coming into the room, Kaeden said, "Here you go. Get up so I can set these down."

They set up all the stuff before looking at the couch and then at each other. Since the three seater couch was the only one with a good angle toward the TV, the three of them looked at it, contemplating how to sit.

Suddenly, Kaeden and Allen screamed, "Dibs on the corner!"

They both let out a laugh and turned to Elijah, who had a bewildered and slightly annoyed expression on his face. As they settled down, he grabbed the snacks since he was stuck in the middle.

"Well, since I'm stuck between the two of you, I'm picking the movie."

"Not fair, but OK," said Allen.

"Here goes my plan of watching Fifty Shades of Grey together," joked Kaeden, pushing his black hair out of his eyes.

After a moment, Elijah smacked the back of his head, and muttered, "Why are you always like this?"

Allen just laughed at their interaction. Her body still shaking with laughter, she said, "So, Kaeden is definitely not picking. Mr. Elling does not need to know the thoughts of three teenagers on that movie."

"Let's watch American Assassin," said Elijah.

This caused Allen to let out a squeal. When both boys shot her a bewildered look, her cheeks turned pink with embarrassment.

"Sorry," she said with a sheepish grin. "I've been a Dylan O'Brien fangirl since, like, second grade."

Laughing, Kaeden put on the movie and they spent the rest of the evening watching and discussing it.

The sound of thunder echoed through the house, causing Kaeden to jump slightly. It was about nine, and Allen got up with a yawn, stretching her arms over her head. "I should get going; it's raining outside and my mum would kill me if I reach home later than nine thirty."

After she left, Elijah turned to Kaeden. "I walked here; is it OK if I stay the night? It sounded like it was raining pretty hard."

"It was; and since when do you ask before staying the night?"

"I was trying to be polite," Elijah said, pretending to be offended when Kaeden scoffed.

It was moments like these that Elijah treasured, when he could just relax and be around the people he cared about. Getting up with a nod, he asked, "Wanna watch something else?"

Kaeden grinned, "Fifty Shades? I wasn't completely joking earlier. I've been wanting to watch it for a while now."

Elijah just chuckled and said, "Of course you do."

He held back a sigh, because while Kaeden wanted to watch the movie because he'd developed a slight crush on Dakota Johnson after watching it for the first time (he'd never say it out loud, though he definitely had, she was gorgeous), Elijah was more interested in Jamie Dornan. He wasn't sure when he was going to tell Kaeden, or anyone else for that matter, that he was into guys; and this had been eating him alive for quite some time now. Shaking his head, he pushed the matter aside for later, like he always did.

Kaeden went to grab them some more snacks, but Elijah shook his head. "Not gonna risk it. Been having stomach aches all day and popcorn and chips are definitely not going to help."

As they both settled down to watch the film, they set up pillows and blankets too because they knew they would be too lazy to go to the room later, and they did not want to be woken up by Kaeden's mother because of the cold when she got home.
