I took a small breath, calming myself down all over again. Just as I felt my heartbeat return to normal, my stomach roared to life, yelling at me in a growl.

"I almost forgot about that," It had been nearly two days since I'd eaten, and lunch can only hold a girl over for so long.

It takes me a minute to gain enough confidence, but I eventually turn back to face the old and creaky door, pushing it open.

Karl suddenly stops his work, turning to look at me with his glasses on. "What is it now? You can't possibly be that attached to me, bitch."

I know there's humor within the words he's saying and I smirk, leaning against the doorway. I'm glad I took a second to work up the confidence to do this, it gets me some brownie points with Karl.

"Shut up, fucker; I'm just trying to see what you'd like for dinner. But if you don't want any I'll just be on my way—" I turn around, getting ready to leave the room so he could get back to work.

I hear a small growl come from him and smirk, waiting for the man to give in.

"Make me food, and it better not be shit," I laugh at how he still managed to keep his ego while giving in to my teasing.

"Anything you don't like? Are you allergic to something?" I make sure I know everything before leaving to cook, since I don't wanna be in trouble for giving him some steak instead of chicken.

"y/n, I'm a fucking god, do you really think I care about what I eat?... no cauliflower."

I nod with a small smile, seeing the tiny bit of embarrassment on his cheeks in the form of a blush.

"Don't go anywhere, I'll bring it to you when I'm done," There's a small laugh from the man when I speak, leaving me with a satisfied feeling; knowing he wasn't mad at me for bugging him.

I hum a small tune on my walk towards the kitchen, mixing in a few extra turns by accident as I try and find small landmarks I'd made inside of my head.

Eventually, I get to the lunch break room used as a kitchen and start digging through cupboards almost immediately.

My expectation going into this is that there wouldn't be much food. Not with how unbothered Karl seemed to be with this 'Duke' guy, who must be the store owner around this small town.

Which explains why I was so shocked when I opened the cupboards to see a decent amount of snacks and seasonings for food.

Maybe he treats himself every once in a while.

I take out some ingredients, deciding that Alfredo and garlic bread would be good enough for a dinner.

I find noodles and set some water out to boil, getting some chicken and smaller ingredients to make my family's special sauce recipe.

He was missing a few ingredients like pepper and other herbs, but I'd make do with the pre-packaged stuff.

I abuse the skill of multitasking for a good hour, taking a step back once I'm done to smile, proud of the dish I'd made with a slight restriction on ingredients.

Maybe Karl would let me be in charge of shopping, that way we always have nice dinners. Well, with what little cooking skills I have; I'm no Gordon Ramsay.

"Alright, let's try not to infect the food or drop it on the trip back," I'm suddenly regretting the decision of telling Karl to stay in the room and that I'd bring him food.

It's a bit of a walk to get here from the welding space, and I have to carry two plates of steaming hot food.

I sigh, shoving the dishes on my arms like a waitress would as I walk back out to return and give the man his dinner.

. . .

"Karl! Open up you fucker, I've got food!" My foot bangs on the door and I hear him through the metal.

"Hold your horses bitch! I'm coming!" The entrance swings open soon after and I smile, walking in with the plates to put them down on a nearby table that seemed clean enough.

"So, how has it been going?"

Karl looks behind him at the weapon and smirks. "It's done."

My eyes widen and I stand up, looking at the metal's shape. "Awesome!"

I rush forward and pick up the weighted tool, smirking when I realize it's a large axe of metal scraps and gears. It was amazing.

I swing it a little, careful not to get Karl with it as I laugh, far too happy to have a lethal weapon in my hand.

"So, you like it? Heh, I knew you would," Karl remarks, taking a forkful of the pasta into his mouth.

I watch as some of the sauce gets on his scruff, making me laugh a little, pulling the sleeve of my jacket over my hand to go up and wipe his mouth off.

It was an instinct, something I did for my nieces and nephews; even a few of my friends. However, this wasn't a friend or my nephew. This was Karl Heisenberg.

The man swings at my arm, knocking it away before I could finish wiping. "The fuck are you doing?"

I quickly retract, my hands going in the air as a form of surrender. "I'm sorry! Your beard was dirty..."

He scoffs, taking another bite of the food. "It's good."

I stare at him expectantly, waiting to hear two more words come from his mouth. They never do. "Ahem, No thank you?"

He shakes his head, swallowing another bite. "Did you say thank you for the weapon? No? Okay then, stop talking."

"Thank you, Karl. I love it."

He stops, seeming to be caught by surprise with the words. "...Thanks for the food— bitch."

I sigh, shaking my head. "No problem fucker, now finish stuffing your face," He smirks, digging back in with joy.

Can't expect him to change in a day. We'll work on it.

I smile, taking a bite of my food. When I take another look at the noodles, I suddenly remember something the man had been talking about quite a bit before today.

"Hey Karl, am I that big?"
