Chapter 23: Aftermath

"A single decision can change everything."

Zero's POV:

It's been months since I attacked the Cathedral City. I couldn't kill One, I was forced to retreat. One was far stronger then I thought. I almost lost Mikhail in the process. Murai and Lailah survived as well. Thanks to Murai, we managed to get away without dying. But,.... He was injured, badly.

We fled to the Land of Sea's, at a small town where Murai first went too. The healers said his left arm was seriously hurt. It would heal, but it required time. He also took a hit to the head and hurt his left eye. It wasn't damaged or anything, but the healing magic could only do so much for him. He needed total bed rest.

Lailah and Mikhail were still recovering from their wounds. Even though village knew about them, they still stayed hidden nearby.

The feeling in my chest was stronger than ever when it came to looking after Murai while he was unconscious. I tried to cool my head and keep a low profile, for both our sakes. It was only a matter of time if One sent soldiers after us. And this Flower is...

One day I was just waiting and noticed movement from Murai. He began to wake up after months in bed. I could feel myself smile and feel that feeling in my chest start to race.

Murai: *yawn* ...Where am I?

He turns his head and looked at me.

Murai: Z-Zero?

I can feel myself crying. I went over and touched his face.

Zero: Took you long enough to wake up, Idiot.

I then hugged him tight. I could feel his right arm hold me softly. I don't know why I was feeling happy. I don't deserve to be happy. But... When it came to him, I feel like I'm aloud to be happy for once.

Hours later

Murai's POV:

Murai: *sighs* I'm surprised I still have my limbs.

Zero then handed me tea.

Zero: Here.

Murai: Thanks.

I sipped it. It was a bit bitter. I guess she didn't know how to make it correctly.

Zero: How does your arm feel?

Murai: I can still feel it. But, I don't know how long it will take until it's fully healed.

Zero: Hmmm....

Murai: Regardless, we only have a matter of time before we're found. So I can't sit and wait. Ah!

I grabbed my left arm that was in pain. Zero came over and held my arm.

Zero: Hey, take it easy. Your not gonna do anything in your state.

Murai: Well I can't just sit here and let you go kill yourself....

Zero: ..... Their might be something that can help your arm, until it heals.

Murai: Hm? What?

Zero: It's at my old cabin. I'll go get it. You stay here and rest.

Murai: No, I can't let you-

She then puts her hands on my shoulders and pushes me down on the bed.

Zero: I said your staying here and resting.

She was obviously serious.

Murai: ......Okay. ...I'll listen..

She then suddenly let out a deep sigh and had a small smile and then left.
