Chapter 26: A world falling apart.

Murai's POV:

We were in the Land of Forests following down an Intoner magic source. Accord was telling us at this point, we were in the endgame. The world is already beginning to show side effects from the Flower's magic. Time was short and that's what Accord came to tell us about.

Accord: ...So you see Murai, dragons have a hunger when it comes to Intoners. They want to eat Intoners. And the the stronger the Intoners magical force, the stronger that craving becomes.

I then remembered before I met Zero. Lailah said she had a feeling, like a craving.

Murai: ...That makes sense now.

Accord: That said.

Murai: Hm?

Accord: Some of them do manage to control such longings to some degree. That's why Mikhail and Lailah here are able to restrain or stay calm around Zero, for example.

Mikhail: Yeah! I can control it! I'm awesome!

Lailah swatted him in the head with her tail.

Mikhail: Ow!

Lailah: She said to some degree Mikhail. After all, we did devour Three, just on instinct alone.

Mikhail: I-I guess.

Murai: Hmmm... This does explain a lot. But I still have some questions. I get the part about dragons acting on primal instinct to devour Intoners. But why? Why do they have this craving to begin with? Is their some sort of history this flower and dragons have toward each other?

Accord: I'm afraid I can't tell you that. Despite you being my Observational target, I have been instructed not to interfere with the flow of time or this Branch.

After hearing that I still had more questions. But I guess it must be that bad I can't know about it.

Zero's POV:

Mikhail: Hey, Zero! Don't listen to what that weird girl said, okay?

Zero: You mean the part that you might eat me?

Mikhail: Yeah! That's mean! I'd never eat you, Zero. Never!

Zero: You sure? After all you eat rotten meat. It's not like your picky.

Mikhail: No way! I bet you taste WAAAY worse then rotten meat!

Zero: You really know how to cheer a girl up.

Mikhail: Look, I'm not gonna eat you, okay?

I then went talk to Accord While Murai rested next Lailah.

Zero: Hey. You. Knock of the bullshit, okay?

Accord: The... bullshit? Ah. You must be referring to my statement that Mikhail was going to eat you.

Zero: You don't need to repeat it or remind me.

Accord: ...Does this scare you?

Zero: Scare me? Of course not.

Accord: Not that. I'm talking about idea of losing Murai.

Zero: I won't loose him. I can finally rely on someone without having to worry about my own death for once.

Accord: ....What will you two do now?

Zero: Track down this Intoner source our dragons are sensing. Oh, and if you follow us, I'll kill you too.

Accord: Don't worry. Like I said, I can't interfere in battle.

Zero: Good then.

Accord: Do take care of each other. This Branch and course your on is changing drastically and the world will only grow more chaotic as you proceed.
