Chapter 28: An Opened Branch

Accord: Divergence, Branch E. The final entry in my Recording appears to be drawing near. With Branches A,B, and C having no fortunate outcomes, I would have thought that Branch D would have been a better outcome for this world's future. But then, a miscalculated Individual from that world came. And his involvement with Zero has changed many things. Perhaps... She can have a future. Regardless, No matter what conclusion awaits us at the end of this Branch, ... I know for a fact that I will never forget this Journey.

Murai's POV:

After one hell of fight in the air, we rested near outside the border of the Cathedral City. Lailah and Mikhail rested. Getting in the city the last time was tuff enough. But just looking at it from a distance, thier were more enemies guarding a section entrence. I hoped down from the cover and joined Zero, Mikhail and Lailah. 

Murai: The city looks more fortified then before. If were going to get in their and find One, we should do it in the morning.

Mikhail: Awww looks like ill have to get some extra sleep tonight.

Lailah: Catching them with their guard down. They won't know what hit them.

Zero: It's our only option.

Murai: (widen's his eyes)?

Zero: What?

Murai: Nothing... I just... I didn't expect you to be relaxed.

Zero reacted alittle shocked.

Zero: (Blushing) Well... We shouldn't... rush into things without a strategy. 

Murai: ...Yeah....

Murai and Zero looked away from each other, blushing. Later on, as the sun went down and the fire still remain lit. Murai was resting with his arms crossed while listening to fire crackle. Zero then sits right next to him with a blanket over her, getting his attention.

Zero: Can I sit?

Murai: (Blushes) O-of course.

She sat down next to him and the two cozied up next to each other. Zero closed her eye and leaned of Murai's shoulder. Murai blushes as he looks at Zero, just mesmerized by her. Until she asks him something.

Zero: Are you scared?

Murai: ... Alittle. But what about you Zero?

Zero: ....To be honest... I am. I'm scared Ill lose you.

Murai looks surprised and comforts Zero by holding her hand. 

Murai: ... Zero... You won't lose me. 

Zero looks at him shocked and unconcerned while looking into his eyes.

Zero: Hey...

Murai: Hm?

Zero: Once One is dead and take her power, the flower will regain all of it's strength. After that, I won't be able to control it. So before that happens....

Murai: ...Ah!

Zero: I want you to be the one to kill me.

Murai: W-Wha!

Zero: I made up my mind. ...Of how I want to die... Of how... I'm going to see this through....

Zero slowly and gently grabs Murai's hand. Their fingers interlock and she holds on tight, starting to tremble.

Zero: ...I choose to die by your hands Murai, ...as a human being. 

Tears start to come down from Zero's eye as she looks at him with a small smile. Murai just looks so concerned. Small tears come done his face as he struggles to hold them back. The thought of killing Zero, was already weighing on him. Everything was rolling around in his head until he finally gave her an answer.
