🐿: it had been three days, since the passing of keisuke baji. and today would be the worst of the three. his birthday, it pained you the most. you realized that after seeing his helpless body three days prior. it was also the burial. you hadn't ate anything for three days. your mother was in the house a lot with the passed two days, though still she couldn't shed one tear for the death of her own son. only worried about planning his funeral.

she was an insensitive bitch.

she couldn't even comfort her own daughter who she had more or less ignored her entire life. only giving attention to her around adults she knew. gross, sickening, disgusting, filthy. she wasn't even what you could call a mother. nor did she ever hear that word out of y/n or keisuke's mouth. not once.

you had about a dozen missed calls, texts, voice mails, emails from everyone trying to contact you. they worried about you, but it was just more stressful. you had gotten a total of four hours sleep with the passed 3 days. deprived of so many things.

"get ready y/n, the funeral is in an hour." the cold voice of your mother echoed the apartment along with the scent of her disgusting cigarettes that she smoked non stop. you didn't answer her, you couldn't utter a word out. the lump in your throat since halloween, it just hadn't left.

you wore a black dress, and his touman jacket. it was miles too big for your figure, but it still had the fading scent of his cologne. you reached into the pockets and pulled out a crumpled up math test. you placed it back into the pocket along with your hands.

you were at your limit. the funeral, your mom, the phone notifications. it was all too much to handle at once. you didn't want his funeral to be on his birthday, he wouldn't have wanted that. he would've wanted a fun celebration with everyone, not some gathering with everyone upset wearing black.

you reluctantly got into the passenger seat of the car. it was silent, apart from the radio. neither you nor your mom exchanged words during the drive. just the sounds of her puffing smoke from her lips.

. . .

"we are gathered here today to celebrate the life of keisuke baji." the priest began. your vision, your hearing, your senses they were all beginning to fade and blur. were you going to pass out over the overwhelming stress?

your mother didn't notice, instead she was pretending to give two fucks while the priest was speaking. but what was he saying? in fact, where was he again?

BANG

your body couldn't move anymore. instead you were greeted by a familiar face, the one you had longed to see for the past three days.

"...kei?" you managed to choke the words out of your mouth. no, he's dead. he couldn't possibly be here. in fact, where am i? i was just listening to the priest in the church.. but what is this place?

it hit you, you were dreaming. but, it was a happy dream. you and keisuke were young again, in fact you were hanging out with emma and mikey. you were all there, wearing judo robes, keisuke he was complaining about how mikey was just there to show off. emma was chasing you around trying to tickle you, it felt so warm.

it felt so real.

so, why wasn't it?

"y/n?" , "y/n?" , "y/n!" the voice invading the dream got louder, and louder. awakening you to reality once again, where you didn't want to be. you blinked, regaining your vision. oh, it was emma ... and mikey?

"y/n thank god! we got so worried.. you just collapsed during.." she stopped. her voice broke. she didn't want to say it, she understood it wouldn't help right now, not at all.

you couldn't seem to respond to her worried reaction. you just rubbed your eyes. your expression was plain, a frown with sorry eyes and major black bags under them from lack of sleep. as for your face, pale as a ghost due to lack of food.

"here, eat this. it'll help. it's not big or rough on the stomach, and it wont make you sick." emma said quietly, almost whispering the words. she and mikey obviously realized you hadn't eaten. so, you did as told.

"did i miss it." you blurted out, finally being able to say something.

. . .

the painful silence.

so you did miss it.

i'm so sorry kei. ★
