The early morning came so quickly as I heard the Scouts leaving for their misson. I looked out the window, staying in my room, peering down into the courtyard, the sun not even rising yet. Each Scout was busy, loading supplies, weaponry and other materials needed.
I had heard from Hange that the trip could take a two days: a day to get there and a day to get back. Which was perfect for me. As I looked down at the troops, I spotted Levi, keeping my eye on him like I was an owl watching a lone mouse.
With everyone's absence, I would have all of the Trost headquarters to myself, which meant I'd have plenty of time to search Levi's office. He had information about the underground and he was keeping it from me. Maybe somewhere in that office there was more information that I so desperately needed.
I know I had promised Levi I wouldn't go, but if I just knew what I was getting into, I could find them. I could finally be whole.
I let out a deep sigh, finally breaking my intense gaze I had on Levi. I sat down at my desk, lighting my lantern and began to write more in my journal. I had grown to like it, writing my experiences and life as it unfolds. Although, I do wish the tragic parts never happened.
It was close to day break when I heard the crowd gathering near the walls. Oddly enough, I heard cheering. That, I had to admit was quite odd yet refreshing. Hope for the Scouts seemed to have returned. I wish my Miche was there to experience it.
I waited until evening before I made my way to Levi's office. I wanted to make sure the Scouts were good and far away. I didn't want face the chance of them, especially Levi, catching me.
He left the door unlocked, assuming I would come in and clean while he was away. I should've, but I didn't want to.
I walked closer to the desk, using my candles light to guide me through the dark room. I reached the wall lamp, taking off the glass cover and lighting the wick. I placed the cover back on and turned up the flame, it lighting up the majority of the room.
I walked to Levi's desk but my thoughts took the best of me:
My mind rushed with the euphoric feelings from that moment we shared as my finger slid across the leather covered chair. His skin, so soft and pale. His voice, pleading with desperation. Something inside me, like a burning fire I couldn't put out, longed for that moment to happen again. Oh, how I wanted that, or even something more, to happen again.
"Oh bosdespa" I sighed, breaking my train of thought and went back to my main goal in mind
I sat in the chair, opening one of the drawers of the desk, seeing papers neatly stacked and a plume gently tucked. Not a corner out of place.
I lifted the papers, holding towards the lanterns light as I read through each page: Formations, numbers, to-do lists.
Nothing.
I placed the papers back neatly, pressing them against the edge of the interior to make sure each page was just neat as it was.
Each drawer held the same items, just useless papers full of military like words that I could care less about. I stood up, tucking the chair back in place then headed to the book case, trying to find anything.
Every book was in alphabetical order by subject, typical Levi but I was thankful for it. I skimmed through each spine until I found the letter I was looking for.
