Hey! A part two! I know I said I was gonna do this, but it's still the first 'second part' I'm doing in this. I know it's not that amazing, but I'm a little excited.
Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns the characters and places, you own Y/n.
Enjoy ;)Y/n was now in her second year of Hogwarts. She was the only girl Marauder and good friends with Lily. But the person she considered her best friend was Remus. He knew her the best. They had spent hours studying together in the Library and swapped books when they were done reading them. They knew each other better than they knew themselves.
But recently, Y/n felt like Remus was keeping something from her. Something important.
Scratch 'recently'. She'd been feeling that way since she'd met him. Every few weeks he would fall 'ill' and be confined to the hospital wing for a day. When she saw him again, he would always look tired and weary.
The other Marauders had noticed it too and asked the girl to try and get him to tell her since she was the closest to him.
In her first year, the DADA teacher had given her a copy of the second year textbook for reading. He had been impressed by her knowledge of the subject and had suggested she read the second year book in her free time. Y/n had been ecstatic and Remus had chuckled fondly at her. Then James and Sirius had teased her for being so smart. She had pointed out that the more she knew, the more she could help them with their homework.
Now, in her second year, she was reading the third year textbook. Towards the end, she came across a creature that made her realise her best friend had a good reason for keeping something from her.
"Of course," she murmured, quickly putting her bookmark in to hold her place and going to look for Remus.
It was Saturday afternoon so she knew Remus would be in the Library studying for his last exam. (She had done her last one the day before and had been reading her room).
Spotting her best friend at a table in a corner, she hurried over, trying not to make too much noise.
Remus looked up as she approached and smiled, but his brow was furrowed in confusion, "Hey, love. What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to finish that textbook the DADA Professor gave you."
She nodded and sat down next to him, holding up the book, "I did. But I missed your silent company."
He chuckled, "I must say I missed your presence too. You help me concentrate."
They sat in silence for a few minutes, Y/n reading (or trying to read) the book and Remus concentrating on his study notes.
Finally, Y/n worked up the courage to say, "Rem, is there something you're not telling me?"
Remus looked up, startled, "No! Why wouldn't I tell you something? I trust you more than I trust anyone."
She sighed, "Are you sure? Because I know you better than you know yourself, and I can't help but feel you're keeping something from me."
He gave her an obviously fake 'reassuring' smile, "Don't worry about it. I would tell you if something was up."
Cursing in her head, Y/n decided a different approach.
"So, um, when's the next full moon again?"
Remus stiffened, "W-why?"
She shrugged, "I don't know. I just thought it would be nice to go look at it from the Astronomy Tower. You and the boys could come with me."
Remus gulped, "Um... Y/n listen..."
He trailed off when he saw your expression. His face paled, "You know, don't you?"
She smiled softly, "Yeah. I read about them in the book and kind of connected the dots."
He leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his hair, "I'm sorry for not telling you."
She shook her head, "Don't be. You were worried I would be scared off. But what you don't understand, Rem, is that you could never scare me off. I can't believe you would ever hurt me purposely. It's just not your nature."
He smiled at her gratefully, "Thanks Y/nn. I appreciate it."
She grinned, "Anytime. Oh, and the boys have noticed something weird too. So it's either you tell them, or they figure it out like I did."
He groaned, "I've been dreading this."
"Hey, I'll be there the whole time. And I highly doubt they'll take it badly. It's not like them."
He nodded, "Okay. I'll tell them tonight."
That evening, the five of them hung out in the common room, talking about what they were going to do during the summer holidays. Remus was fidgeting with his chocolate wrapper nervously, but only you noticed.
Finally, when Sirius announced he was going up to bed, Remus spoke up.
"Um, actually, could you just wait for a second. I want to tell you guys something."
The boys gave you knowing looks before putting their attention on Remus.
"I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been disappearing every month for a few days. Y/n figured it out earlier and suggested I tell you all. Truth is... I'm lycanthrope."
James's eyes widened behind his glasses, "What, like a werewolf?"
Remus nodded, swallowing. Y/n took his hand and squeezed it gently . He squeezed back.
"Why didn't you tell us, mate? Think we wouldn't accept you?" Sirius asked, looking concerned, "Because that's not going to happen."
Remus let out a breath, hand still gripping Y/n's, "Really?"
James nodded, "Really, Rem. You're one of us."
Y/n smiled at him, "I told you they wouldn't hate you."
He grinned, "I should've known you were right. You always are."
It's not as long as the first part, but I think I have another two coming before it finishes. Hopefully you guys are interested enough to bare with me until the end.
Thanks for reading ;)
