Chapter 4 (V): Determination

As the trial started, the discussion of the murder weapon was going in circles.

First of all, it couldn't have been the hammer, because there was no oil on it whatsoever. There would be no reason to wipe the oil off the hammer to avoid suspicion because if that was the case, they would've completely disposed of the hammer. A possibility went to the pillar since there was oil found on it, but it was too heavy to lift and couldn't have been tipped over by the killer onto Nekomaru, since pillar fragments were found underneath his body.

"If they didn't tip it over... then how did the killer murder Old Man Nidai?" Akane asked.

"How much longer are you going to focus on the pillar?" Kazuichi said. "Just let it go already!"

"Th-There's no way I can let it go..." Akane faltered. "I'm positive that... Old Man Nidai was killed by the pillar.

"Why are you so certain about that?" Fuyuhiko asked.

"I just... have a feeling..."

"A feeling, huh?" Kazuichi said. "That's just your instincts..."

"...But we can't say for sure that that instinct is wrong, can we?" Nagito said.

Hm?

"...So... you're saying that the murder weapon really is the pillar?" Katsumi said.

"There's another way to use that pillar to kill," he answered. "You guys just haven't noticed it..."

Other ways that the pillar killed him...

"Then I shall ask you..." Gundham said. "What way is that?"

He gave a sigh of disappointment, taking Katsumi by surprise again.

"You guys... are the same as usual... You're unable to clear a path to the future with your own powers, so you just stand there and falter. What a waste of talent! And you all intend to fight the Future Foundation? You make me laugh!"

"Wh-What did you say?!" Kazuichi said, now angry.

"Regardless... it's not like I want to die with the rest of you, so I guess I should lend a hand," Nagito continued, ignoring Kazuichi.

"Hey Komaeda... what the hell happened to you?" Fuyuhiko asked. "How come you're not talking like a lunatic anymore?"

"I've learned a valuable lesson. Ignorance is by far the greatest shame..."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Who cares?!" Akane cut in. "Just tell us how the pillar was used to kill!"

"First of all, the pillar itself is not enough to kill..." Nagito explained. "But when combined with a specific item, there's a way it could be possible."

"A specific item?" Gundham said.

"Of course... the Ultimate Weapon."

"U-Ultimate Weapon?!" Hajime said.

"Isn't that the thing you get when you clear the Final Dead Room?" Kazuichi said.

"So... Komaeda-san knows what the Ultimate Weapon is?" Sonia said.

Of course, I know..." Nagito said. "But I'm sure everyone else has seen it too, you know?"

"We've... seen it...?" Katsumi muttered.

What could it be?

"Cut the crap and say it clearly!" Fuyuhiko shouted. "What is the Ultimate Weapon?"

"In order to clarify that, we first need to solve the secret of the Funhouse," Nagito said.

"Huh?" Akane said, confused. "The secret of the Funhouse?"
