As Hajime finished giving an overview of the case, there was silence.

Chiaki stood there, thinking intently.

Hold on... This... ties to the motive, right? Since we've disproven that his motive was to simply kill us all from a suicide.

Since the killer is one of us, if we get it wrong, we all die except for that killer, but...

"Something's been bothering me," Chiaki spoke up. "Did Komaeda-kun really not care who the killer was?"

"Right..." Katsumi said. "If he wanted one of us to kill him and create an unsolvable mystery, what motive could it be entailing?"

"I think... it might be factoring in on his belief. Remember what he said earlier? He believed in us, to unwillingly follow his plan and most of all..."

"His... luck, right?" Hajime said. "He's relied on it countless times, from getting picked for cleaning duty and clearing the Funhouse."

"There's no way he wouldn't factor in his luck in this plan," Chiaki said. "This is Komaeda-kun we're talking about, right?"

"If he actually did have a target, then he was probably setting someone up, right?" Katsumi added.

"That identity of that target is probably something that Komaeda-kun didn't know, which is why he relied on his luck and how he incorporated it into his plan."

Something clicked.

"...So he believed in his luck that a certain person would pick up the grenade..."

"He... left his plan up to luck?!" Kazuichi said.

"That person is..." Hajime said. "The traitor right?"

Chiaki nodded.

"Then that would mean that what he said about weeding out the traitor would tie into the plan, correct?" Katsumi said.

"But if he wanted to weed out the traitor, he didn't have to go so far and make them the killer!" Akane said. "We're all in a huge bind because of that!"

"By finding out who the traitor is, our hopes will shine even brighter by overcoming that despair..." Kazuichi said. "That's something he'd say, right?"

That he'd... want us to beat them...

But why... doesn't that sound right?

"But that's just my hunch," Chiaki concluded. "Are you all willing to believe me?"

It was out there, but...

"Believing is the only thing we can do now," Katsumi said. "Komaeda-kun's luck isn't something to laugh at either."

"That's right!" Akane said. "If we don't, then we'll only be relying on our own luck, right?"

"But, even if that's true, how are we supposed to vote if we don't even know who the target is?" Kazuichi asked.

They wouldn't gain anything from revealing themselves... In fact, they'd definitely profit from not doing it...

"If, by chance, the traitor revealed themselves during the bomb scare..." Chiaki suddenly said. "Would it have... stopped Komaeda-kun from acting so reckless?"

"Huh?" Hajime said.

Katsumi could feel herself tense up for a second.

Nanami-san... What is... she saying?

"But... they couldn't help it... Even if they wanted to reveal themselves... they couldn't do it... Because... they weren't created to do that."

"N-Nanami?" Hajime said.
