Moment

Silence passed between us. The sound of Jarah's constant typing is all we can hear inside my car and for several minutes of listening to it kinda pissed me off.

"If you value that phone, you'd better put it on silent before I throw it out of the window," I tipped her.

I can sense her looking at me now, burning holes into my skull. She never replied. Rinig ko ang pagsinghal niya. Maya-maya pa ay tumahimik na rin.

Subukan niyang magalit at hindi ako magdadalawang isip na palabasin siya sa kotse ko. Pft. Why is she even here anyway? 

I sighed. Nauna na ang kotse nina Luke at nakasunod lang kami sa kanila.

"Hindi sa nanghihimasok ako Val but does your gun have a license?" biglang tanong ni Mitchie.

Nagtaka ako. "Siyempre wala, I'm still seventeen. Bakit?"

"Oh yeah, sorry. Nagulat kasi kami kanina saka worried lang ako. I didn– I mean we didn't expect that you know how to use a gun. It's like you're an expert when using it," she said, amused.

Worried, huh? And did she not expect it, or is she expecting it?

Palihim akong napangisi. "Ngayong nakita mo kung paano ako umasinta, alam mo na siguro ang mangayayari sa'yo kapag sinabi mo ang nakita mo sa iba?" I casually said and glanced at her.

I noticed how her eyes widened as if my words had scared her, and how she gulped twice. Binalik ko ang tingin sa daan.

"What do you mean by that?" mahinang sabi niya.

I laughed. "Just kidding. 'Wag kang mag-alala, I'm just fooling around," bawi ko. She laughed nervously. "But seriously though, sana huwag niyo itong ipagsabi."

"Don't worry. Kahit hindi ko gusto ang pagkatao mo ay hindi ko 'yon gagawin. You saved our lives after all," sabat ni Jarah.

"You better."

Ilang minuto ang nakalilipas at nakarating na kami sa school. We never talked again after the incident and just went to our rooms. And to our luck last subject na lang ang naabutan namin, pero napagalitan pa kami. Si Mitchie umuwi na rin since she has no class. And Bricks didn't talk to me, like I was not here at all.

I'm blaming myself now. Hindi kasi ako nag-iisip eh. Kung hindi sana ako sumama edi sana hindi kami nagkita ni Hunter at hindi nila nalaman na miyembro ako nang Exodus. At kanina, gosh I was so reckless but it's because I don't have a choice.

Still, what if may natamaan sa kanila nang dahil sa kapabayaan ko?!

Humigpit ang hawak ko sa steering wheel. D'Mitri is right. I shouldn't interfere with them but nevertheless, it is a good start.

I can easily kill Hunter back there but I don't have the courage to that. I'm no killer. Hindi pa 'yon ang huling pagtutuos namin.
