Chapter 17 (Cake Tasting)

"Devon Amaro speaking" I said through the phone without looking at the caller ID
"It really must be going bad that side if you answer your phone like that at your best friend" Nessa's playful voice said on the other line
"Shit sorry I have just been so busy and I didn't even look at the caller ID" I replied and her laughter filled the line
"You need me to come back?" she asked

'Yes'

"No Ness I told you everything is under control this side" I told her
"Anyway how is your trip going?" I asked placing the pen on the folder
"Oh my God Dev this is one hell of an experience we are enjoying it so much, I have seen more parts of Paris than I could ever imagine, I did send a few photos" she said and I smiled

"Yeah sorry I saw that but just got a little distracted" I replied and she huffed
"Is that handsome bastard still giving you shit?" she asked
"Hey I am right here" I head Jason say on the in the back ground and I laughed softly
"Hey Jason" I yelled so he could hear me
"And no Nessa the wedding is going according to plan he has been well as always" I replied most of it was true
"Just tell me if you gives you anymore hassles and when I come back I will give him a piece of my mind" Nessa said and I laughed again at her response
"Oh yeah I don't think you will get too far on that" I replied
"Oh Jason also says hi, we are going to the Louvre art museum today so expect more pictures" she yelled excitedly
"Will do but you guys have fun" I replied and Nessa laughed
"We will love you Dev" she sounded sad to hang up
"Love you to Ness and you too Jason" I yelled the last part loudly
"Yeah, yeah" I heard him yell back and I laughed
"Bye" I said again as we hung up

I looked at my phone I really needed that call I also wanted to tell her everything but I knew I couldn't I hated to keep secrets from Nessa. I got up from my chair and collected the necessary folders for the wedding; I had to get to cake tasting which was always my favourite part

I entered the cake place just as Lila and Giro came in after me

"Hey Devon" she said as I hugged her and Giro nodded his head at me
"So nice to see you again" I replied and showed them to the table where different cakes was placed, I saw Sebastian wasn't here and I was really glad about that
"Yeah he is a bit busy today" Giro answered when he saw me looking at the door I sagged my shoulders in relief
"Giro told me you guys weren't on speaking terms" Lila asked me and I shook my head
"We just has a few words for each other again nothing serious" I replied as Marie placed the different cakes on the table
"So there is the strawberry filled cream cake, the chocolate mouse and the lemon tart cake once all of the cakes has been tasted you guys can discuss this and decide on the best cake" Marie said and we thanked her each of us taking a piece of cake

"Oh no Devon yesterday you looked worn down, I still want to know what he said to you." Giro asked and I looked at my cake
"I don't think I should say besides he told me I should butt out of his family's business, I mean he is right you guys are my client's-"
"Fuck that Devon" Lila half yelled and everyone looked at us in the shop
"Sorry guys" I said to the people who looked at us and they went on with whatever they are doing
"No you are my friend he doesn't have a say in who my friends can be, he is already so against this wedding, I mean if he has a problem with you that is his fucking business, you are my wedding planner and my friend" Lila hissed softly and I smiled at her
"Thank you Lila I really appreciate that but I really don't want to cause any problems between you guys" I said and Giro shook his head
"Believe me Devon you are not the one causing any problems in fact you are just the opposite" Giro said to me and I frowned
"What do you mean?" I asked interested

"Look I know Sebastian is the Capo and boss but he is still by best friend since we were little, but he needs to start growing up" Giro started which was new to me
"Giro I'm the one who entered your lives and made it harder on him" I said
"He wasn't always like this Devon, he speaks to me but I think he is more upset that maybe he will lose his sister or friend when Lila and I get married" Giro told me and it made sense
"You are just that one person who doesn't hold her mouth for anything and stands up against him, I think he has trouble accepting the fact that he cannot always be in charge, but mostly due to the fact that you are a woman I think you bruised his ego a little" Lila said and I had to laugh
"Explains why he gets so moody when I speak about his ego" I replied while both of them laughed
