12. Storytime

(Y/n)s dorm room

Being in the hero course is a very demanding task. As students, you are constantly learning enough information to be an intelligent adult as well as how to be an amazing hero. Even weekends are used for training. So as suspected, holidays are a privilege, not a right.

In order to have freedom to go on vacations with family or go on shopping trips with friends on the four week long half year holidays, you must get over 70% on the final exams.

This caused a lot of stress for the students taking the exams who wanted to be able to have fun of their holidays rather than participate in the summer school program.

It was significantly more important to the newer student, (y/n) (l/n). If she failed her final exams she would be ridden of the right to see her brother who she has not been able to hug in a year and a half.

So, to ensure her holiday plans, (y/n) studied harder than ever.

She scheduled study dates with one of her closest friends, katsuki bakugo, who was very high up academically in her class.

(Y/n) was always the sort of "as long as I tried that's what matters" kind of student. But that will not be her mindset for these exams.

(Y/n) raised her brother Aizen almost since birth. She has prioritised him and her mother over herself for her entire teenage years. And when you have to live without the person, or this case, toddler who you spent the majority of your life worrying about, it can be very stressful.

Katsuki had noticed (y/n)s shift in demeanour ever since the mention of finally exams and summer school was announced To the class.

She had been more focused during there study dates. Now she actually took notes for longer than 30 minutes. She asked for solutions to problems instead of just agreeing she'd figure it out later.

So on the Thursday of the last week of school and the day before final exams, while (y/n) sat at her desk this time as they were studying in her room rather than his, katsuki decided to ask what was different.

"Oi greenthumb"

Almost as if they're roles had switched from the study dates they had a month prior in katsukis room, Bakugo laid on
(y/n)s bed looking around to find something to keep him entertain while she sat at scribbling down math test book answers into a notebook.

"Yes katsuki?"
She replied without looking in his direction

"Why are you being such a tightass about the exams tomorrow?"

"And here I thought you didn't pay attention to me katsuki"

"I don't, you're just actually studying for once. It's creeping me out"
He replied before laying his head back down on her pillow and looking up to the taped glow and the dark stars on her roof.

"I just don't want to go to summer school katsuki. Having to do algebra on my holidays is not something I want to prioritise"

"Your lying"

"I'm not lying kastuki. I just have plans for the holidays that I cannot miss. Meaning I have to pass this exam"

"Plans with who?"

"Jeez your nosey katsuki"

"Do you have a sugar daddy you're  meeting to something"

The girl couldn't help but laugh

"Yea katsuki, I married a millionaire and I'm meeting up with him on the holidays to rob him."

"Cmon don't be a little shit. Tell me"

She sighed
"Fine."

Katsuki silently congratulated himself.

"Good. Now hurry up and tell me. It's getting late."

She got up from her desk and sat on her bed next to kastuki.

"My brother is coming down from Tokyo and I haven't seen him in a year and a half"

Katsuki stayed silent.
"That's it?"

"Obviously not katsuki you didn't let me finish. He lives with my uncle in Hinohara. I raised him since he was a baby and I miss him a lot. If I don't pass these exams, he won't be able to stay with me for a couple weeks."

"That makes sense. Why doesn't he live with your parents?"

There it was. The question (y/n) dreaded answering.

Obviously her brother wasn't the reason she avoided telling people about her family.

If was because of the questions that followed.

"my dad left when I was 11 before Aizen was born and then my mother... killed herself when I was 14"

Katsuki stayed silent the entire time. Trying to take in the new information.

"And you never thought to tell me!"
Katsuki felt bad. He complained about his mother so much in front of you. Saying she was irritating and always bugged him. You two had been friends for 3 months now and you had never told him or anyone about your family.

"Well I don't like telling people. They pity me and see me as the traumatised little kid who wants to be a hero. It's annoying"
She huffed

"Why in hell would I pity you? Huh? I'm not one fo those idiotic nerds"
He replied.

"Yea yea I know you're right. It's just annoying. I miss him and can't see him as often as I'd love too. I want to tell everyone about him but I can't because they always end up asking about my parents."

You both sat in silence next to each other until he spoke up again.

"When is he coming down to see you?"

"That's if I past these stupid exams"

"I said, when is he coming to see you?"
It was encouraging to hear Bakugo having faith that you'll pass.

"Monday, Third week of the holidays. It's the only day a flight attendant is available to escort him around the airport because he's only 5 and doesn't have a guardian"

"He better not be one of those annoying little shit. I'm not gonna meet him if he his."
Bakugo stated nonchalantly.

"Y-you want to meet Aizen"

"Of course I do. I'm the reason your gonna pass this exam, without my help you'd fail. I at least get to meet the little asshole"

She smiled.
"He'll love you"
