"Rocky come here buddy" I called him

Within seconds Rocky strutted his way to me and laid his head in my lap

"Hey buddy" I gently patted his head

"I promise to keep you safe and make sure you're well cared for" I told him honestly as he looked up at me

I don't know if he needed to hear it, but I needed to say it. Just then, my doorbell rang

"I'll be back" I told him as I stood up

I made my way to my front door and checked the peep hole to make sure it wasn't a murder. Luckily, it's Dakota

"Hey" I say once I open the door

"Hey, these are for you" he said handing me some flowers that were once in his hand

"Oh wow. Thank you, they're beautiful" I smiled as i took them from him

I took a second to admire them

"Come in" I said as I left the door open for him and started walking to my kitchen

"What's the occasion?" I asked

"Just for you" he smiled

I smiled back as I walked to put them in some water

Dakota follower close behind, but stopped in his tracks when Rocky started barking at him

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, it's okay, I-" Dakota put his hands up in a surrender

"Rocky, it's okay. He's okay" I told him

Rocky didn't stop barking though

I quickly put the flowers in a vase to try and 'rescue' Dakota

"Look Rock, hes fine" I said hugging Dakota to show him he was safe

The barking continued

"Awee look, he's so sweet, he makes me feel safe" I told Rocky as I held Dakota tighter

Soon, Rocky started to calm down a bit

"He's alright" I pet rockys head as I let go of Dakota

"Dakota, pet him so he knows you're safe" I said

"I don't know" Dakota said sounding unsure

"You'll be fine" i told him

He cautiously nodded and brought his hand slowly to Rocky

I watched as Dakota gently rubbed Rockys head. It took a little bit, but Rocky soon got accustomed to Dakota and warmed up to him

"He's a sweet boy, he's just protective and scared sometimes" I told Dakota as we walked to my living room

"I get it, it's okay" Dakota smiled at Rocky

"So what's up?" I asked as I sat on my couch

"I just came from Ariana and Dalton's house" he said

"Did you now?" I asked

He nodded

"What are they up to?" I asked

"Not sure. Ariana was in a robe" he made a yikes face

"Oh god" I laughed

"Just kidding. Dalton said they were going to lay by the pool" Dakota added

"Mmmhmm" I hummed

"That's what I said" he laughed

"Nasty ass kids" I laughed back
