After a slightly serious talk with the Saint of Light, Koh’s
sudden appearance revealed the atmosphere till now was part of
a ploy for sympathy. As a consequence, I’ve got them sitting
   side-by-side.

“What are you two thinking, taking advantage of someone’s
   conscience?” I asked.

“Fuh-fuh-fuh,” the Saint chuckled, “The Saint Of Light’s Love
Towards Her Beloved Marshall Of Darkness Will Remain Pure, Even
If She Has To Resort To Dirty Tricks!”

“Don’t defend yourself with a line like the title of a web
novel!” I yelled. “Also, if you resort to dirty tricks, you
   don’t have pure love!”

“Ehh, I’m sure there are a lot of girls out there who’d love to
get their hands dirty to get their hands on their beloveds,”
   Kou trilled.

“Shut the fuck up, Kou!” I said. “I mean, you’re you, why the
hell do you think you can say that?!”

Kou looked surprised. “Oh, nooo! I forgot about that!” he
squeaked before he tapped his head and stuck out his tongue.

I’m not a big fan of this kind of mocking behavior, but I think
it’s refreshing to get it after all the bad reactions to my
terrible reputation. All that aside, I was seeing surprising
sides to the characters I’ve met so far, but Kou seems to be
exactly as he was in the game.

Impressed, Kou stood up, took out a piece of candy from the
chest folds of his robes, and bowed deeply. “Thank you for
taking good care of my daughter. This is a pittance, but please
   take it.”

“Oh, that’s very kind of you,” I said.

   … Hmm?

Did I just see some weird cliché act?

“Hey, Saint of Light!” Kou said. “If you’re staying over, you
should have brought a gift for their hospitality!”

“We-elll, you see, it was a sudden decision,” the Saint said.

“Don’t use that as an excuse!” Kou said. “Honestly, my
daughter, you’re always causing so much noise and trouble over
   here…”

“Ah, no, well… but, I think you’re fine, right?” I said.

“Look, Mother, the Marshal says it’s fine!” the Saint said.

It seems this really is some weird cliché act…

“Honestly, this daughter of mine…” Kou muttered.

Yeah, I just heard him clearly say “this daughter of mine” just
   now.

“Marshall, I’m very sorry about all this,” Kou said.

“Oh, no, no, don’t worry about it,” I said.

Kou sighed deeply as he followed up, “I’m always telling you to
be a little more graceful, at least put some tears in it…”

“Geeze, shut up already, Motherrrrr!” the Saint said.

“Don’t tell me to shut up!” Kou said. “And, Lady of Light, what
were you going to do without a change of clothes for this
   sleepover?!”

“I thought that Father-in-Law will lend me something…” the
   Saint replied.

“Don’t you dare!” Kou said. “I’m sure the Marshall will be very
   disappointed in you…”
