May 2nd, 1998.

The battle of hogwarts.

I tried for you
Tried to see through all the smoke and dirt
It wouldn't move
What could I do?

Currently, you were running for you life, trying to find Draco. You'd lost him when Padma Patil had almost been hit by an exploding wall, causing you to use a Reducto spell. Then you looked to your right and Draco had left. Bloody bastard. "Thank you!" You heard Padma yell.

When the war had first started, you both heard an explosion, and ran. "I'd never forgive myself if something terrible happened that I could've protected you from." Draco and you hid in a classroom, "Promise me we'll stay together?" You asked, and he wrapped his arms around you, "We'll try." Draco dropped his hand down to yours, and intertwined them. You both walked into what would soon be the most miserable day ever.

Explosions happened all around you, causing you to duck, jump and gave more reason to run faster. Tears had been falling down your face, the stress of finding Draco and simply staying alive caused a wretched feeling in your stomach. Thoughts started filling your head, the most horrible thoughts. What if they've got Draco? Had him hostage? There was one obvious thought, one you didn't even want to say. You were soon distracted by Ginny Weasley, who was fighting a death eater you didn't know. "Stupefy!" You said from behind her, and the unnamed death eater flew back, and fell unconscious.

"Thank you, so much." Ginny said before she quickly ran to stop Fred Weasley from getting hit by an explosion.

I touched your head to pull your thoughts into my hand
But now I can't.

You had made it to the central tower when you noticed a familiar head of blonde hair sitting against a wall. "Oh my god." You sighed and ran towards him, quickly dropping down to his level. "Bloody hell, Draco!" You scolded him, "Are you okay?" He ran his hand through his hair, "Yeah."

"Then why the hell did you leave?" Draco didn't answer, he wrapped you in the tightest embrace he'd ever given. Your hand had subconsciously brought itself to the hair behind his head. "I thought something bad had happened." You said into his shoulder. "Y/n, I need you to find somewhere safe." Draco pulled away and wiped the tears from your cheeks. "There is no where safe." You croaked and sniffed, "If I'm dying, it's going to be with you, okay?" You held his hand against your cheek. "No." He paused and put a strand of hair out of your face. "No, I don't want you dying because of me."

You were going to argue, until you both heard someone approaching. "Stay here." Draco gave you a look of concern, and you couldn't help but notice all the creases in his skin. You remembered his round, boyish features as a kid, and it started to hit you all at once. He's just a boy and you were all just kids.

Isn't it strange?
How people can change
From strangers to friends

"Mum, I'm really scared." You whispered into your mother's ear, right before getting onto the hogwarts express. "Oh darling," She gave you a hug, "I know you'll do wonderful things, just like your father." Your mother kissed your head, and held your chin up. "You can write me anytime, my darling girl."
