CHAPTER FOUR:
❝︎Beth❞︎

LEAVING NICK FURY'S OFFICE, AN IMMEDIATE WEIGHT FELL OFF OF HER SHOULDERS. She never wanted to be face to face with him ever again, and she especially didn't want to ever step foot in his office. Hell, she wouldn't mind just avoiding him overall. He had this look that constantly danced within his eyes, and it was a look so nonchalant and dangerous that it sent chills down Raelynn's spine every time she thought about―︎and for the moment, it was the only thing occupying her mind.

Making her way down the many halls of the Avengers facility, Raelynn forced her mind to move away from Fury's presence to the words Natasha had spoken to her moment before they had entered the building in the first place. She had seen the frown that had crossed Natasha's lips even though the assassin had tried so desperately to hide it. Natasha was a professional at keeping her emotions hidden, however when it came to the woman she loved, she couldn't help but express the worry and anger that she felt towards what it was that was inside of Willow.

After walking for almost ten minutes straight, Raelynn allowed for a huff to fall from her lips as she stopped in her tracks, crossing her arms over her chest as her head snapped back and forth down the different hallways in hopes of figuring out where the hell it was that she was at. However, she came up empty handed and she couldn't help but wish that Natasha had given her a map to the place so that she knew where the hell it was that she was going. A huff fell from the blonde's lips before she found herself jumping when she was tapped on the shoulder.

Raelynn was quick to turn on her heel, making the person step back and quickly raise their hands up in surrender. A brunette stood there, a small chuckle falling from her lips as she looked at Raelynn. She shook her head, the kind smile still stretched on her lips. Raelynn looked at the unfamiliar woman for a few minutes before watching as she opened her mouth to speak. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I just couldn't help but notice that you looked a little. . . lost?"

"Uh, hi." Raelynn stuttered, clearing her throat before shoving a lock of blonde hair away from her face. "I am a little lost. I'm trying to find Willow Michaels? I was told she was probably training or something, and I sort of walked out of Fury's office without thinking of even asking for any directions." Raelynn gave a nervous laugh before wetting her suddenly dry lips. She really hoped that the woman in front of her didn't see her as some kind of intruder. So, she was quick to stick out her hand. "I'm Raelynn."

The brunette continued to hold that kind and gentle smile on her face as she removed one hand from her pocket and reached out to grasp Raelynn's. "Bethany, but people call me Beth." They shook hands before Beth placed her hand back into her pocket. "So, Raelynn, what are you doing here and why are you looking for Willow?"

Raelynn swallowed thickly. "I. . . uh. . . I have a condition. And I've been told that Willow understands what it's like to not exactly be. . . alone in your body."

Immediately Beth understood what it was that she was talking about. She knew all about Willow and what was attached to the woman's body, and she couldn't help but to be curious as to how Willow and Raelynn's situations were similar. But she knew that that was a rude and intrusive question to ask, especially when she was was asking someone that she had literally just met. She couldn't help the small frown that had pulled at her lips. She knew how much Willow suffered, and she couldn't even imagine how this woman―︎that was most definitely younger than she was―︎was suffering because of what she had called a condition.

"I can lead you to her." Beth told her with the nod of her head. "And if I can't, I know someone that will most definitely know where she is, besides Natasha that is. Usually wherever Natasha is, Willow is close by. Those two are the best for each other, and I'm pretty sure every couple here is jealous of them. Even Theo and Clint who are married and have three kids." Beth smiled triumphantly when a small chuckle escaped Raelynn's lips.

They started walking in a comfortable silence, Beth seeming to greet every person that she saw with a warm heart. Raelynn had a feeling that the woman beside of her was one of those that had been through so much shit, yet still managed to come out as a soft sweetheart. Knowing that Beth was here with the Avengers, she knew that meant there was something special about her. So, she couldn't help but allow for the question to fall from her tongue before she had the chance to swallow it up and hold it back.

"So, assuming you live here with the Avengers and all, I'm guessing that there's something that's not so normal about you as well?"

Beth smiled at the question and nodded her head. "You would be correct." That's when she held out her hand, allowing for the pink fairy dust to surround her hand. "They call me Dreamcatcher. Or Dream Walker. I can walk through people's dreams."

Her mouth fell agape slightly. "That's so cool."

"When it's a beautiful dream it is." Beth agreed. "But when it's a nightmare. . . I almost get killed every single time. And I don't think Wanda can handle me almost dying again."

"Tell me more?" Raelynn carefully questioned.

Beth laughed. "Of course. We'll catch up. But, there's your girl." Beth pointed through a window, pointing at a brunette that was currently throwing kicks and punches towards Natasha. "It was nice meeting you Raelynn."

Raelynn gave her a small smile. "You too, Beth." And with that, she watched Beth walk away before a sigh fell from her lips and she forced herself into the training room and towards the woman she hoped could help her.
