Another major thing I see here on Wattpad is that many authors use text language when writing, or they shorten words just because they are lazy.
Now, I sometimes use text language when I'm texting someone on my phone or chatting with them on some other app like Kik, Messenger, KakaoTalk, etcetera.
But it is not appropriate to use this type of language in novel writing! You're supposed to use actual words. I'll give you a list of text words I have seen in writing:
Wuz
Cuz
Brb
Ttyl
Ur
Bcuz
Lmao
LmfaoI believe none of these should be used in a novel unless they are in the following types of messaging from a character:
Texts
Social Media
Notes to another character/group in storyOther than that, it shouldn't be used. I cannot stress how bad text language is in stories, same with spelling errors, dialogue issues, misused words, and grammar errors. If you don't know the spelling of a word that you normally use in text form, then look it up or ask a friend who's good at spelling to help you. Ask your mother! (They usually know how to spell pretty well, fathers are good too, but it depends if their writing has to be good for their job. XD)
I don't see much more I need to put here on this, so I hope this was helpful for anyone who wants to write a bit better.
