A new diesel engine was brought on the railway to help out at the growing industry of the Sodor China Clay Pits. He never got a proper introduction to the other engines, considering the fact that he was brought in specifically to help out at the Clay Pits and occasionally take trains to the Harbour at Knapford. His name was BoCo.

On his former railway, he didn't have a name. He was called Diesel 5702. Before coming to work at Sodor, he worked for a B.R. Designer called P.T. Boomer, bringing him materials to make all sorts of engines. 5702 was Boomer's most prized engine, earning him his name, BoCo for Boomer & Company.

BoCo was wary of his surroundings at first. He had heard of what happened to Toby just a few days ago. He didn't want to wind up dead. He was looking around, examining every hazard. He then saw a train of loaded China Clay Trucks, remembering it was one of his jobs to take them to the Harbour, so he was coupled up and he quickly oiled away.
