Chapter 26: A Promise To Be Made + The Rivalry

Oh my god, why was I here?

Why am I here?

I was about to shriek but I realized he would wake up if I did, I immediately looked at the nightstand and found my phone, I took it and unhurriedly got up.

Oh my god, please don't wake up.

When I got to my feet, I unexpectedly felt like falling, but I kept myself up. I sighed and walked closer to the door, tiptoeing.

"Where are you going?" A voice asserted, "I flinch." I turned around and faced Alejandro.

"You are not leaving." He told me and I glared at him. Okay, I was not checking him out.

"I am, get a hold of yourself Alejandro, and let me go, " I shouted as I walked away, but he grabbed my wrist and threw me to his chest.

"You're not leaving Camila." He said sternly and brushed his hand on my cheek,

"Alejandro, let me go, you psycho. I have an event to go to, and I don't want to be with you." I said and pulled away from him.

"Camila, I just saved you, and right now you're the one who is supposed to be mad?" He asked with outrage and I looked at him and scoffed.

"Well, no one told you to save me. You could've just left me there. Plus, I don't need you. " I responded and looked at him with eyes filled with frustration.

"I'm getting you back." He said it was a pledge and I chuckled. I was demoralized now.

"Let's see about that," I say as if I replied to a non-fact sentence.

I walked out of the room and realized I was in a penthouse. I hope I can find my way out of this place.

When I finally got out of the horrific place, I looked at the time and saw it was 6 p.m.

Great job! Now I'm late! I quickly took out my phone and called a cab.

"Finally!"

I said and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I was finally done, I quickly went to my dresser and took my wallet.

Tonight I'm wearing a white off-the-sleeved shirt and some tight jeans that were good for an event. Okay, I don't need to dress extravagantly. This is for the patient, not a night to look pretty.

I took my heels and quickly grabbed my bag. I walked out of my apartment and turned on my car. I sat inside and drove to the hospital.

As I was driving, deep thoughts entered my head.

What was that dream all about?

Do you think Alejandro loves you?

So many more questions flowed into my head and suddenly I had to stop my car.

What does Camila think? Okay? He doesn't love you!!! And he will never love you! I thought to myself and suddenly I didn't realize I was crying.

I wiped my tears away and sighed and continued to drive.

When I got to the hospital, I quickly rushed inside and saw Katherine.

"Are we about to start?" I whispered and she nodded and gestured for me to enter the room.

We were going to surprise the kids and other patients today.

As I went inside, all of the doctors and nurses were getting ready, I glanced at Lorenzo and smiled at him. He walked towards me and handed me my white coat.

"Thank you," I said, hugging him.

"You seem stressed. Have you been crying?" He asked and I looked at him shocked.

"No. Of course not." I lied and he sighed and looked at me.

"I'm here if you need advice." He said and oats my back, and I gave him a reassuring smile and he left.

I sighed and went to the other staff and helped them. This party is going to be great. Suddenly, one of the staff came rushing into the room.

"They're almost here." She said as she quickly turned off the lights.

I hid behind the chair, smiling as I imagined the kids' faces.

Suddenly, the doors opened and we saw the kids. We opened the lights and shouted, "SURPRISE!

All of them looked curious, but when they saw me, they quickly rushed to me and hugged me.

I haven't seen some of these kids in a long time, I miss them.

"We missed you, Doc. Camila." They say it in the cutest way possible.

I leaned down to their level and gave them the biggest hug.

"I've missed you guys so much, have you guys been good?" I asked and all of them nodded and I chuckled,

"So kids, I want you guys to meet some of the new people that will take care of you guys." I saw and stood up and everyone made an aww when the kids followed me.

"Why don't you guys go to your seats?" I said happy and all of them nodded.

Now it is time to start... I thought to myself and sighed.

"They love you," Lorenzo whispered and I giggled.

"Well, it's because they missed me," I said proudly, and he chuckled and passed me a cup of juice.

"Another successful event." He said and we both made a toast.

It felt like old times. These days, I felt free. When I got arranged with Alejandro. I've lost everything I loved. Everything that I loved to do was gone, and everything seemed plain and somehow something was missing in my life. And it was liberation; I had always felt like a separate person, but I wasn't to blame; I was fragile, A lost girl who knew how to pretend as if she was okay.

"Are you good?" I heard Lorenzo ask, popping my bubble.

"Yeah, I'm good," I said and sighed.

I said, "I'll just get some air," and excused myself and went outside.

I went outside and saw it in the waiting area.

I let the fresh air flow through my body and I let calmness control me, I took a deep breath and opened my eyes.

I sighed and walked over back to the room. As I was about to twist the door handle, someone grabbed my hand.

I turned around and suddenly Alejandro's lips were on mine.
