Y/n POV

"Xiao! We need to talk!" I reached the highest balcony and shouted. Of course.. there's no reply.

"This is important Xiao!" I'm getting a little impatient with him. I mean, he's purposely avoiding me. I haven't seen him in forever. He doesn't even want to talk to me anymore.

"I'll get you Almond Tofu!" I tried prompting him. Well, it never worked in the past, why will it work now.

"It's about Rex Lapis! Okay!" Xiao's starting to get on my nerves by just not being here.

"What about Rex Lapis?" Xiao appears before me with his cold eyes and folded arms.

"A traveller came to Jueyun Karst reporting the death of Rex Lapis." Xiao's eyes widened with shock and disbelief although his expression says otherwise.

"Rex Lapis... How could this be?"

"I can't imagine it either.. that's why I need you to help me find him."

"Find him? What do you mean find him? You just said he died."

"I don't believe he's dead. He fought in the Archon War, the Cataclysm. And then he just died out of nowhere?"

"Sigh... Y/n, you have a good heart. But there are times you have to face the fact."

"Tch... face the fact.. don't you lecture me about facing facts." You left me! You left me, just so that you won't lose me! Yea, I know the reason. You don't want to see me die! I left in rage, leaving Xiao puzzled.

I returned to Jueyun Karst to meet Moon Carver again. He probably sent the traveller for the other Adepti, Mountain Shaper, Cloud Retainer and probably Xiao.

"Y/n, you have returned." His voice bellows.

"Moon Carver, what is the plan of action now?"

Moon Carver informs me that the Adepti would have a meeting here at Jueyun Karst to form a plan before heading to the Jade Chamber and confronting the Qixing. But first, we have to wait for the Traveler to send the messages to them.

To kill time, I went around the vicinity of Jueyun Karst, defeating enemies left, right and centre. However, this time it's a little different.

"Die.." I said as I slew a hilichurl. What a monster you have become! Slaying enemies for the sake of panting out your rage. "Shut up.." I whispered to the voices in my head. Xiao doesn't need you anymore, he never did. All he's ever done for you is out of pity. He cared for you to get on your good side, then he'll break you and make sure that you regret meeting him.

"Shut up!" I dropped my f/w and brought both of my hands to my head. Oh, F/n. You will fall right into my hands this time. To think that you joined Alatus in this fight, now you have accumulated the hatred I have for Rex Lapis. You.. you're the god that captured us... Ooo, so you remember~

"Leave me alone.. please.." I curled into a ball, hugging my knees. Don't worry F/n~ you'll join me soon enough. I felt a hand on my shoulders and I shot up, summoning my sword.

Xiao stood before me, amused with my reaction. "You should always have your guard up, Y/n."

I seethed my sword and looked away. I can't deal with you right now. I turned to walk away but he grabbed my hand and stopped me.

"Y/n? Is something wrong?" Xiao's eyes were filled with concern.

"Just leave me alone."

"Is this about finding Rex Lapis? If it is-"

"Leave me alone!" I freed my hand from his grasp as I shouted at him.

Xiao's POV

"Leave me alone!" Y/n freed their hand from my grasp. Their eyes were filled with a mixture of rage and pain. Something's not right...

I used my fingers and flicked their head. "We still have a meeting to go to at Jueyun Karst. The traveller came by earlier." I don't know if Y/n is surprised or annoyed by the head flick.

"Tch.. fine." Y/n and I made our way to the meeting area. It was weird though, usually Y/n's chatty around me, they didn't say a word the whole trip and they were always ahead of me, keeping a distance from me. Did I hurt Y/n with what I said back at Wangshu Inn? I worried. I just wish that they would talk to me about what's troubling them. I don't like their silence.

Before the Archon War, Y/n was the only one there with me. They seemed cold at first but it was to hide their emotions. Especially with the god trying to break them and all... I admire Y/n's bravery and resilience against the god. I would hate myself if I hurt them.

"Conqueror of Demons, Adeptus Y/n. One is delighted to meet you." Cloud Retainer had arrived a little while ago.

"Let us devise a plan to deal with the dilemma." Mountain Shaper added.
