Chapter 16

Pyxis

"We should stop by here first," sabi ni Gavin saka bumaba ng sasakyan. Bumaba na din kami saka pumasok sa supermarket. So far, tahimik naman ang biyahe namin. Just like some wild animals, infected seem to attack too if they feel threatened. Inabot kami ng umaga pero walang humabol sa amin, they were all just walking mindlessly.

Pumasok kami sa convenience store saka isinara ang pinto at bintana as usual. We even covered the glass with clothes at hinarangan ang mga pinto ng ibang bagay such as tables.

We opened the lights and sit on the floor. Kyvria chose to sleep again, so naglatag si Gavin ng matutulugan niya. I really envy them. Kasi may kasama pa siyang pamilya pero ako wala na.

Zane seems to not be affected by what happened. Why would he? He stayed on what he is. Drinking liquor with Gregory. Pinipilit nila si Gavin na umaayaw. Not this time raw.

Yez are comforting Carter, or should I say comflirting. Paano kasi, kung makakapit sa braso ni Carter akala mo ahas. Not that I hate her—but also I do—but I think it's unusual for a person to go that far. Kung makabigkis kasi akala mo aagawin sa kanya.

And I am looking at nowhere. I wasn't overthinking. Ironically, my mind fell blank. I don't know why , but maybe this is just my natural way of coping up to the situation.

"Hey Pyxis," napatingin ako kay Courtney na may dalawang cup saka umupo sa tabi ko.

"Drinks?" she offered.

I slightly smiled. "I don't drink coffee, sorry,"

She smiled too. "Alam ko. I overheard you and Carter before. Chocolate ito, don't worry," she said so I accepted the cup.

"Thanks,"

"Don't be upset of yourself, okay?You're strong. Because if not, you won't be able to live for today," saad niya habang nakatingin sa kawalan.

"You're strong too, Courtney. Maybe way stronger than me," sabi ko.

She chuckled. "I doubt that,"

"What do you mean?"

She stood up. "Long story. Puntahan natin yung iba. It wasn't bad to enjoy sometimes. You need to loosen up, honey," sabi niya saka itinulak ako.

"I don't drink, sorry!"sabi ko habang itinutulak gamit ng kamay ko ang shot glass nila

"C'mon Pyxis. Just one shot,"pagpupumilit ni Courtney na namumula na dahil lasing na din siya.

"Sorry but I dont really drink,"tanggi ko.

"Hayaan na natin si Py. Ako nalang ang iinom. Okay lang, Py?" pagpapaalam ni Carter sa akin. I smiled nonchalantly. He's being thoughtful again, one of the things why I admire him so much.

Tumango ako kaya kinuha niya ang shot glass mula kay Courtney saka tinungga ang laman nito. He winced kaya alam kong maging siya ay hindi sanay na uminom.

"Ako na ang iinom sa next turn ni Pyxis. Not only Carter can play hero here," saad ni Zane kaya napairap ako. Siraulo talaga.

After taking 10 bottles they all decided to stop. Hindi nila intensiyon, sadyang nagbagsakan lang sila sa sahig, if you know what I mean.

Since ako nalang ang matino, inayos ko sila sa pagkakahiga. Nahirapan pa nga ako dahil ang bibigat nila. Yung kambal at sila Kyvria naman ay nauna nang matulog. Medyo bossy si Gavin as a brother, pati yung kambal dinamay niya na.

Huli kong hinila si Carter at nang ihiniga ko siya, bigla siyang bumangon. His eyes half-open and his breath smelled alcohol.

I don't know what happened to me but that turned me on so much. The smell of the alcohol was intoxicating me. His face closed to mine and he smiled after.

"Tell me you love me." I was struck by his words. This is not Carter, he's just so out of character. Hindi ko alam bakit ganito ang epekto ng ininom nila sa kanya, but I kinda like it.

"I...I do," halos bulong na sabi ko. There's no point in lying, is it?

He chuckled. "I noticed it,"

And before I knew it, he grabbed my face with his both hands and claimed my lips.
