Chapter 24

Pyxis

"Carter, I told you, hindi mo na kailangan pang magpaiwan dito. Kaya ko na ang sarili ko," sabi ko habang inaayos ang higaan ko.

"Gusto ko lang na masigurong okay ka," sabi niya habang nakatayo sa harap ko at nakatingin sa akin. Ano kayang trip neto?Di ba siya napapagod kakatitig lang.

Nakakailang din pala kasi dati ako yung pasimpleng tinititigan siya tapos ngayon..

"I'll be okay. Seryoso, mas kailangan ka doon," giit ko.

"Mas kailangan kita," sabi niya kaya nabitawan ko yung kumot na tinutupi ko.

"Carter..."

"You're blushing," he said then chuckled. Kaya naman biglang umasim ang mukha ko.

"Yan, diyan ka magaling," sabi ko saka binato siya ng unan. Pero imbes na umiwas, sinalo niya ito.

"Magaling saan?Sa pagpapakilig sayo?"he joked.

"Shut up James Carter Johnson,"naiinis na sabi ko pero hindi na naalis ang ngiti sa mukha ko.

"I won't stop making you blush, soon to be Mrs. Pyxis Betelgeuse Morales–Johnson," he said smiling from ear to ear.

My smile faded the moment he said that. I wanted to be with them for a long time, pero hindi ko sigurado iyon. Walang nakakasiguro doon.

Napansin ni Carter ang biglaang pagpapalit ko ng emosyon kaya humakbang siya papalapit.

"Cmon Pyxis, you'll live longer. Mawawala ang mga parasites sa katawan mo okay?They'll make a cure. We'll end every shit happened," Carter encouraged me but I think its no use since I know better.

"Carter, please stop. Ayoko ng false hope,"sabi ko saka napaupo sa kama. Umupo sa tabi ko si Carter.

"But it wasn't bad to still hope for the best, right?After all, hope is what we need right now. If there's a hope, then we'll keep moving. We'll keep looking for the bright side no matter how worse the situation is. And hope, is what making me believe that I'll be staying with you no matter what happens,"

My eyes watered. "Carter..."

He smiled. "I love you. And I will do everything for us to survive this. Makakalaya tayo sa pandemyang ito. Promise,"

"Promises are meant to be broken, Carter,"

"Promises are meant to be broken if the person who promised chose to broke it. And I am not that person Pyxis. After all, you knew me more than anyone do,"he said then chuckled.

I chuckled too. "Hell yeah,"

"Can I sleep here with you?Just wanted to make sure you'll be okay," he said then miled sheepishly.

"Sus, gusto mo lang akong tabihan. Don't me," I said then rolled my eyes.

Bigla siyang humiga saka pumikit. "Well, that too,"

Humiga na din ako saka nagkumot. "Just this one Carter,"

"Doubt that," he said making me giggle. Siraulo talaga.

I smiled as I close my eyes. Maybe Carter's right. Hoping for the best wasn't so wrong after all.
