I had spent the majority of my time during the flights vomiting any food that went into my system. With the change in timezones, it meant that my morning sickness from my spawn was unpredictable, so when I finally arrived in New Zealand I ventured straight to my hotel room.
It was a blessing to have accommodation in a comfortable bed after travelling for almost twenty-four hours. I spent the night catching up on lost sleep so I was able to wake up bright and early for the next leg of my trip. Travelling to the Sout Island of the country to the small city where my job was based, Queenstown.
When I finally awoke I looked at the time on my phone that said four in the morning. This meant I had five hours before I needed to check back in for my next flight to the airport that was within walking distance.
I decide to shower in the attached bathroom to the room and spend a lot of time enjoying the hot water as it washed over my body. Closing my eyes my mind races back to the heated moments I would enjoy with Otis.
I let out a sigh, opened my eyes and continue to rinse the soap off my body and change into a pair of jeans and a plain white shirt. Along with a puffer jacket due to the coolness of the wind outside. I had gone from enjoying the heat of the summer sun to the beginning of winter on the other side of the world.
I put some light makeup on my face, which was just filling in my eyebrows and a small amount of foundation to hide any skin imperfections. I added some mascara to my eyes and finished off with some lip balm.
I pack my bags once more and was able to take advantage of the breakfast options they had in a common living space of the hotel. I enjoyed some sweet honey cereal along with a glass of apple juice. It was enough to hide the cravings the beast wanted below.
I spent an hour relaxing more in my hotel room before it was time to venture back to the airport to get on another flight. I was travelling from the domestic airport rather than the international airport that I had arrived in.
The transition through security and bag drop was a lot easier than the international airport in Paris. Everyone spoke English here and have been extremely welcoming to me, wanting to know which part of the UK I was from.
When I was finally abroad the smaller flight that would fly down to Queenstown, I let out a deep breath as I look out the window. The sights of the New Zealand landscapes were a lot more breathtaking than those back home. There were high mountains that looked like something out of a fairytale.
I felt happy I made the right choice, it seemed this opportunity would be a pleasant place to clear my head. I would enjoy exploring the scenery that New Zealand had to offer.
When I finally arrived at the airport and gathered my bags I see my name was written on a whiteboard. I look up to see the face of a young tanned boy, who had shaggy brown hair and hazel eyes. He flashes me a large grin as I walk over. "Kia Ora Ruby!" He greets me in a New Zealand accent, I gathered that was a national greeting to new people.
"Hi." I let out a small wave in front of the handsome young man who had a short trimmed beard growing on his face. He wore a thick puffer jacket as he offers to take my bag.
"So I'm Noah Baker, I'll be your tour guide during your stay here. I'm also a part of the snowboarding tutoring, where you've been assigned when the resorts open." Noah explains, introducing himself. "So what part of England are you from?" He asks as he leads me through the airport
"I'm from Wales actually, I'm from a small village that was close to the English border," I explain as we reach his black truck. I would later learn that many young men had these types of vehicles and they were called utes here.
"I can relate to being from a small town, I had to move to a big city for something different!" He explains happily as we drive along the roads, I notice the big mountains looming ahead just outside of the small city. "So as a perk for the job we get to stay at the resort." He explains.
"There was something also about free transport hire or something?" I ask.
He lets out a small laugh. "Yes, there are a few cars you're welcome to use. They just want you to fill it up before you return after a big trip." He explains. "If I'm ever around, I'd be happy to take you around and show you around some awesome attractions."
"Sounds great," I say, smiling as we pass by the snow-covered mountains to the accommodation that awaited us.
