Upon waking the next morning, I hear someone banging on the front door. I was confused as I thought my mother would be home to answer it.

Groaning I pull myself out of bed, ignoring the fact I was only dressed in boxers and a thin shirt as I make my way downstairs to open the door. I wipe my eyes looking at who was at the door in the early hours of the morning. "Maeve? Isn't it a bit early?" I asked confused.

She shrugs, I see she wore her usual dark clothing but her face appeared to not have the usual dark makeup. "Good morning to you too sunshine." She greets me before barging into my house. "So I hear your Baby Mumma has risen from the grave."

She sits herself down in the living room. Expecting me to talk with her about the news. "Do tell me, is the child actually yours?" She asks.

Letting out a yawn I throw myself against one of the couches. "Yes," I answer. "Did you come all the way over to my house to ask if the child is mine or is there some other point for this visit?"

She looks impressed with my annoying attitude this early in the morning. "We're friends, I just wanted to make sure that Ruby wasn't taking advantage of you by picking the first guy she remembers having sex with."

Her statement wakes my body up, as I jolt up into a sitting position. "Maeve it's fucken six o'clock in the morning and you're already giving your rather rude opinion on Ruby. I'm sorry you have an issue with the development that Ruby is back, I'm glad she's not dead."

Maeve scoffs. "Of course you do." There is a bitter laugh. "There's a chance you two will get back together for the sake of the baby."

"It sounds a bit more pleasant than a girl who develops a hatred for any other female I hang around with," I mutter, causing a hurt expression on Maeve's face. "Does it shock you I don't want to fuck every female that walks on the planet? There is such a thing as platonic friendship between people."

"But you'd be thrilled if Ruby gave you the option, even if it included her new boyfriend." She suggests, which continues to piss me off. Maeve makes all these strange claims. She sounded bitter about any subject that included Ruby. "I wish she was dead."

"So I can continue to be fucked around until you make up your damn mind about what you want from me?!" My voice got louder as I spoke each word.

"You know how I feel about you." Her voice is quiet, but I'm able to hear it.

"Actually Maeve," I say standing up. "I don't think I do. We make out and go back to the platonic friendship because you don't want to complicate things, which confuses the fuck out of me."

"I think you should leave." My words blurt out before Maeve is able to make excuses.

"So you can go and pretend you're a big happy family with Ruby?" She challenges.

I shake my head. "What is your big deal with Ruby?" I ask.

"She's a bitch, she's just using you. That's what she does with people." She explains. "Why would she take an interest in an awkward male when she could easily get more attractive partners?"

There is an angry glare on my face as Maeve mentions her thoughts on the subject. "How about there is more to relationships than just being attractive?" I ask. "I get it, you hate Ruby, but you better get over your fucken issues because there is no changing the fact I will be a father."

"Or what? You'll dump me?" She asks crossing her arms across her chest.

"To do that, I would have to be dating you. You're the one that rejected me, a person can only deal with that hurt for so long Maeve." I explain. "We're better off as friends, this complicated bullshit you keep putting me through I'm sick of it, but if you keep it up I don't think I even want the friendship."

"So again, Otis Milburn is choosing Ruby over his friends." Maeve corrects me, making me groan. "I'll admit I'm not as pretty as her but I know she's a bitch and I regret the small times I thought she was a decent person."

She begins to walk towards the door to exit my house. "I do wish you good luck and if the child comes out of a different race, congratulations on raising someone else's kid." She mutters before slamming the door behind her.

I roll my eyes, jealously was one thing but Maeve was on a completely different level. Perhaps there had been underlying issues between both girls that I was unaware of. Although I do know I had to have am mature conversation with Maeve, I was sick of being used in times of need. It turns me off wanting to go further in a relationship with Maeve.

I was now putting my future child before the dramas that come assioated by high school dating. That was scary for myself.
