Ruby POV
After having my mother drop me off outside the red house. I take a final moment looking down at the simple outfit of sports leggings and large knitted jumper trying to cover the large stomach that presented itself in front of my body. With a sigh, I knock on the door.
Only to have Otis answer it straight away, he appeared to look like he had run a marathon with slight sweat on his forehead. "So are you going to invite me in, or gawk at me?" I ask, there was a slight chill in the air.
Otis apologises before letting me into the warm house.
We both sit on the couch next to each other, Otis keeps his eyes in my direction. "Yes, I look horrible. The only pleasure you have is a child." I mutter, the hormones playing up and mixing my emotions. I had a pang of excitement before arriving.
"No, you look beautiful." He comments, making my cheeks flush red. I didn't help the situation with Otis pulling a stray hair that had fallen from my ponytail. My cheeks became even redder. "I think the bonus is that we will have a great looking child if they take after you."
Deciding to be cocky myself. "So if it looks like a clone of yourself, I can sell it on the black market?" I ask in a serious tone. "Or ship it to Eric to raise."
There is mumbled laughter from Otis who hides his expression from me. "Hilarious, I think we would be better to ship her off to a circus rather than being raised by Eric. I love him, but I think that is a terrible idea." He mentions, causing me to burst out with laughter. "Although time is getting pretty close before she is born."
I let out a small sigh. I wasn't looking forward to the labour part of pregnancy. My mother had begun to tell the story of what the recovery time will be once my daughter is born, it took her almost two months for everything to return to normal after I was born. "I'm guessing you mean how we will raise our daughter?" I ask.
Otis nods his head. "So I'm thinking about postponing university for a year, so I'm able to work to support the both of you and spend extra time around." He explains. "Just ignore whatever threats my mother says, this isn't her life for her to rule. It's my own."
I nod in understanding. "So I was talking to Noah about my living situation." I begin to explain. "My parent's house is far too small to have a newborn in it and I truly doubt your mother would want me around here." There is a look of sadness on Otis' face.
I hadn't mentioned much of my friends that I had met in New Zealand. We had got along so quickly and since he left the UK, I had been missing him and the unique landscape of New Zealand. There was still so much I hadn't seen. "So you want to go back to New Zealand?" Otis asks.
I nod shortly. "I'd love for you to join, it won't be straight away. I thought maybe for a holiday when our daughter is older." I explain, there had been a lot of thinking. "I still want the support system of my family and I wouldn't just leave without you this time, I just know living at home with a newborn and a disabled father is not the best balance."
There is a look of concentration on Otis' face. "I'll think about it. It's just a long way from home and I've never been to another country besides visiting my father in America." I could see he was scared about being so far away from home. "I'm sure we can come up with a plan in the short term when our daughter is born, I don't want to be around my mother if she's still having her temper tantrum."
"Sorry." I felt guilty. "I didn't mean to spring it upon you."
Otis shakes his head with a smile. "I'm glad I'm invited this time. I don't want you disappearing on me again." He mentions before planting a kiss on my forehead. "Was pretty boring without you around Moordale."
"I think things would've been different if I was around," I mention, a sigh escaping my lips. "Maeve probably would've snatched you away and convinced me to perform an abortion."
"I'm not sure about that," Otis says. "She's pretty set in her mind she's not sure where I fit into her life, as a friend or a boy toy."
"That's exactly what I'm using you for." I send a wink in his direction. "I barely kiss you and yet I'm knocked up, about to burst in a matter of weeks and that terrifies me."
Admitting my weakness meant Otis wrapped his arms around my body before he turns on a movie on the TV. "Baby Daddy is a bit of a step up from boy toy." He casually mentions with ha smirk.
