W049: Ok, I didn't expect a lot of you guys to like Felix that much- but hey, at least you guys still have Gunther and Ludwig! ^^'

Germany-1915

~

After the battle Y/N had no desire to come out from their assigned room, they would only let Gunther and Ludwig come in, they didn't want their commander to see their messy state which worried German Empire.

The death of Felix broke them. He was one of the greatest friends they ever had, and now he's dead. At the moment Y/N was staring at the ground while Gunther rubs their back, he whispered calming words and sometimes even hugs them when they needed it.

Y/N rested their face in their palms. A knock at the entrance was heard, which only got Gunther's attention. The soldier got up and told Y/N he'll be back. The older man walked over to another soldier, Hans.

"What is it?" Gunther asked. He had his hands on his hips, and he looked down at Hans.

"The commander wanted me to tell the lieutenant that they'll be going back to Berlin," Hans said. He was sweating nervously to the point he was fiddling with his fingers.

"Again??? What reason?" Gunther asked. He wasn't happy at all.

"He said that the lieutenant needs a break from the whole.... thing."

Gunther was about to say something, but he was cut off by Y/N. Their hand rested on Gunther's shoulder. Their eyes had bags under them, and they were red from all the tears.

"Tell the commander if I'm going to Berlin, then I'm taking Gunther and Ludwig with me as well," Y/N said, they glared at Hans, which made the poor soldier tense up.

"Y/N no Ludwig and I can stay here, I'll keep an eye on him," Gunther said. He gently took Y/N's hand off his shoulder and gave them a small smile.

"Gunther, please, I can't stress over the thought of losing you and Ludwig like Felix!" Y/N cried, tears forming in their eyes.

"Y/N, look at me, don't worry about us. I promise you that when you come back, Ludwig and I will still be here in one piece."

Y/N sniffled. They stared at Gunther and nodded. Hans led Y/N to where the carriage was, and the German Empire was there, of course.

The commander opens the door for their beloved lieutenant who walked in without looking at Reich. The commander was about to close the door outside before they were stopped by Y/N.

"I thought you were coming with me..?" They asked. The German Empire looked surprised at them. After a few days, they finally talked to him, and it aches his heart to hear their broken voice and grief in their eyes.

"Sadly, I'm not, though luckily I have Berlin to look out for you in the meantime. I'll come back to the mansion after a few more days to come to the Russian fronts." German Empire said. He leans in the carriage and kisses the lieutenant's hand.

Y/N blushed a bit and smiled at Reich. The two of them wished them both luck, and with that, the door was closed, and the carriage started to move away from the worn-out battlefield.

After what felt like forever, the carriage stopped, and the door gently opened, Y/N looked out the door to see Berlin standing before them. The capital smiled at the lieutenant and offered them his hand, which they took.

"Welcome back, young master, it's nice to see you again. The kaiser sent a message to me saying you've been feeling down lately?" Berlin asked, Y/N nodded. The capital nodded and took Y/N inside the warm mansion where noises of running and laughing were heard around the halls.

"Apologies for the chaos. The kids didn't know they'll be having a guest here." Berlin sighed, he gave the young lieutenant a soft blanket, and he went out to deal with the chaotic gremlins.

Y/N went into the living room and sat down on a comfy chair. They tiredly stared at the blazing warm fire that was dancing in the fireplace.

The sound of the chaos upstairs stopped, and footsteps were heard coming down the stairs.

Y/N looked up and saw some pictures of Prussia and the Holy Roman Empire. The painted pictures looked brand new like they were repainted before the war broke out.

"Ah, I see you're looking at our last kaiser, truly a handful but a wonderful kingdom," Berlin said. He had a small smile as he stared at Prussia's painting.

"Oh! Dritte, Weimar! Say hello to your father's first lieutenant!" Berlin said, he carefully nudges the two kids towards the soldier. Y/N looked over, and they froze after seeing them for only one second.

The Third Reich and the Weimar Republic stood in front of them with Weimar being taller than his brother.

"Hello, lieutenant Y/N!" They both greeted, and they smiled at Y/N. The young soldier greeted the two boys, and the kids were sent off from Berlin.

"Handling one kid is hard enough, but dealing with two is overkill." Berlin sighed, "Do you need anything, young master?"

"No, I'm fine, thank you.." Y/N said the capital left the soldier in the living room. Y/N just sat there still frozen in their chair. Their eyes were on the dancing fire still, deep in thought.
