Chapter 15: Amplification

The pack's a Scott's going over the plan to save Lydia. Stiles says, "There's four steps. We get into Eichen, we get into the Closed Unit, we get Lydia, get out." Scott says, "And we have to do it all of this while getting past orderlies, guards, electric door locks, and a Mountain Ash barrier." Malia says, "You have a plan for all of that?" Stiles pulls out a key card and says, "I stole this last night off an orderly. But it's useless 'cause they reset the codes each night." Liv says, "So why did you take it?" Stiles says, "I'm getting to that." Scott says, "The only way to get Lydia out of Eichen is to make that key card work again." Liam says, "How are you going to do that?" Stiles says, "We're getting to that, okay, just listen. I pulled all the history off the key card. Two weeks ago, there was a brownout and the security rebooted. During a reboot, all of they key cards revert back to a default code. So if we trigger a reboot..." Liv says, "The card goes back to the default code. It works again." Kira says, "How are we going to cause a brownout?" Scott says, "That's your part. You're going to draw power from the main line. But only enough to cause the brownout." Stiles says, "Not a blackout. Do that and you send Eichen into lockdown which would be bad. Very, very, bad." Scott says, "There's an electrical room behind the reception counter. The main power line goes into two breakers that run power to all of Eichen." Kira says, "Okay, slight problem. I don't know how to do that." Scott says, "That's okay. You have time to practice." Malia says, "Let's say all this goes perfectly How does a brownout get us into the Closed Unit of Eichen?" Stiles says, "The system takes five minutes to reboot. In that five minutes all the alarms will be turned off the key card should work." Scott says, "Liam, you and I get Stiles to the gate of the Closed Unit. But after that he goes on his own. We can't get past the Mountain Ash barrier. And when we're gone, all anyone's going to think is that there was a reboot of the security system caused by a brown out." Stiles says, "Uh, any questions?" Liam says, "How do we get into Eichen House in the first place?" Malia says, "What's our worst case scenario?" Kira says, "What if I can't do it?" Stiles says, "Okay, admittedly, a lot could go wrong." Liv says, "Everything could go wrong." Scott says, "Guys, if we don't do this, we lose Lydia. She's going to die in there tonight. And she might take a lot of innocent people with her." Later, Liv's with Kira and Malia in a class room trying to help Kira light a light bulb. Kira looks at both girls and says, "What?" Malia says, "Do it. Do your thing." Kira says, "What thing? I don't have a thing." Liv says, "You did it before. You had to learn how, right?" Kira says, "Actually, no. It just happened." Malia says, "How'd you learn to fight with a sword?" Kira says, "That just kind of happened too." Malia says, "So you've never worked for anything and basically you're a cheater?" Liv glares at Malia and says, "Malia!" Kira says, "This wasn't my idea. How are we even getting past the front gate?" Malia says, "I have a guy on the inside. And stop changing the subject. Do your thing." Kira exhales and does it, but the light gets to bright and the bulb shatters. Kira says, "It didn't work." Malia takes a shard out of her forehead and says, "No, it didn't." Liv gives her another bulb. Kira tries many times and it still isn't working. Liv and Malia both have put on safety googles. Kira looks to Malia and says, "Can I ask you a question?" Malia says, "No." Kira says, "Did your mother really try to kill you?" Malia says, "Did your mother try to leave you in the desert with Skinwalkers?" Kira says, "Are you really going to try to kill her first?" Malia sighs and looks away. Liv takes her googles off and walks up to Kira and Kira says, "Why'd you take off the goggles?" Liv says, "Because this time you're gonna do it, okay? You just have to breathe and believe that you can do it." Malia stands beside Liv with her goggles off also and says, "And it's gonna work. Because this is the only way we're getting Lydia out of Eichen House." Liv says, "Kira, it's working." Then the bulb breaks and so does the entire classroom. Malia says, "We should go." Kira says, "Yeah." They run out the school and go to Scott's. They tell Scott what happened. Scott says, "She took out the whole school?" Malia says, "She took out the whole grid." Kira says, " Look, I failed every single practice try. This isn't going to work." Liam says, "How far can we get without the brownout?" Stiles says, "The front door." Scott says, "We're going." Kira says, "Scott, we went through boxes of light bulbs." Scott says, "It doesn't matter." Liv says, "You can do this, okay? This for Lydia." Kira says, "The key card won't work unless there's a reboot. And there's no reboot without a brownout." Liv softly says, "I know you can do this. I have never doubted your powers even when we first met. I always knew you can do things, even if you think you can't. I always knew. Anyone here think she can't?" Liam says, "Not me."  Scott says, "I think you can." Stiles says, "I was the one who put you in the plan." Liv then looks at Malia and she says, "What?" Stiles whispers, "I believe in you too, Kira." Malia says, "Liv, we're the ones who's going to be locked in the electrical room with her." Liv glares at Malia and she sighs and reluctantly says, "You can do it." Kira says, "You guys are all crazy. We're gonna die." Later at Eichen House, the girls are on a tour and the orderly says, "Please remember to follow visitor procedure. Eichen House has a wide range of patients and we cannot guarantee the safety of those who deviate the rules." They walk into Eichen and quickly walk away from the group to hide in a corner. There's a distraction and the girls run into the reception office and go to the electrical room. Kira says, "We're in. We did it." Malia says, "Don't get too excited. Getting out's the hard part. Twelve minutes." Liv opens the panel to see a lot of colorful wires. Liv softly says, "Okay, Kira. You can do this. 11 minutes." Kira takes out a piece of paper and says, "I think it's these. But they're covered in rubber. Malia goes to cut the wires with some scissors and Kira stops her and says, "You want to electrocute yourself?" Malia shrugs her shoulders and says, "I'll heal." Kira says, "Not if you die." Malia then gets her claws out and tries. She grunts and says, "I didn't die. Four minutes." Kira sighs and Liv softly says, "I can smell how nervous you are. Just breathe, Kira. You've got this. It's just like we practice." Kira says, "You mean like when I caused a major blackout?" Malia says, "Not like that. Ten seconds. Nine, eight..." Kira says, "Please stop counting." Malia says, "Why isn't it working?" Kira says, "Because I have no idea what I'm doing." Malia says, "Kira, nothing's happening." Kira says, "I'm aware of that. I don't want to lose control because I'm scared I might fry the entire system." Liv puts a hand on Kira's shoulder and softly says, "Stop worrying about what you might do. This isn't about you or us. It's about Lydia. We're here to save Lydia. We're here to save our friend." Kira nods and exhales. Kira uses her her powers and Malia says, "Kira, it's working. Keep going."  Kira does it and then Liv opens the door and says, "Those guards shouldn't be there." Malia says, "We could get past them." Liv says, "We could. But we don't want to set off any alarms until Lydia is out." Liv then closes the door. They put their ear against the door and the guy at the desk says,  "Visiting hours are well past over." Tracy says, "We're not here to visit." Theo says, "We're here for Lydia Martin." They then get out the room and Malia tries to wake the guy on the floor, but he won't wake up. Kira's powers start acting up and she says, "It's started." Liv says, "We need to get you out of here." Kira says, "What about the others?" Malia says, "They should already be back at the morgue. Let's go." They run through a door and leave. They run to the morgue and then they here an alarm go off. Malia touches the door and gets electrocuted. Liv says, "Lockdown."
