Temporary goodbyes

When you woke up in the morning, Bucky was still holding you tightly to his chest. Leia was giving you warm kisses along the face and you couldn't help but giggle.
"That's supposed to be my job" his voice was gravelly this morning, and you felt his voice vibrate through your whole body.
"You have to get ready for your mission" you turned in his arms and wrapped your arms around him. "I just need a moment before we get up" you sighed, taking in the feel of his skin against yours.
"I promise to come home to you" he kissed the top of your head. "I can tell your worried, but this is part of the job"
"I wish I was coming" you admitted finally.
"Not for this one, its not safe for you" he shook his head. "There's more training, and this is where we think you were kept. I don't want you to relive that nightmare"
"As long as Jeanette isn't there, I know you'll be safe" you sighed heavily. "Just be safe"
"You know I will doll" he kissed the top of your head again before unwrapping his arms from around you and starting to get up out of bed. He grabbed some of his clean clothes from the drawer and stopped for a moment. "I'll bring over more of my shirts for while I'm gone" he got dressed quickly and slipped out the balcony door to go to his room.

You slowly dressed into a pair of shorts and one of your band shirts with a pair of sneakers. You figured since you were going to be alone for the next while, you might as well dress the way you wanted to. When you came out of your room, Bucky was just about to walk back in carrying a handful of t-shirts for you. You smiled softly at him and placed them on the edge of the bed before taking his hand and heading towards the dining room. He pulled you in for another sweet kiss before you both got to the end of the hallway.
"I need my fill before I leave" he teased, licking his top lip and biting his bottom lip as you both continued to walk. You looked over your shoulder at him, and saw he was staring at your ass.
"Did you not get a good enough look already?" you giggled.
"Never" he gave you a playful spank as you walked into the dining room. You saw the team was all there, already geared up just like Bucky. You saw that Happy was sitting beside Tony in Peppers spot and looked at him curiously.
"Since we are all going out of town, Happy volunteered to be your security detail until we get back. Meaning if you want to leave the compound, he will take you. If you want a sparring partner, go easy on him. He's staying in one of our spare rooms on the upper floors. He knows that you have nightmares, and to just check in on you" Tony told you as Bucky pulled out your chair for you to sit down. "You'll have to take turns with meals and dishes"
"We are ordering sushi tonight" Happy announced to you, and you shrugged. "Tony's paying"
"Can we go get groceries tomorrow?" you thought for a few minutes before you asked.
"That's automatically delivered, you don't need to go out for that. Just tell Friday what you want" Tony gave a small smile. "The less you leave the compound right now, the better. There's a lot of media attention on you, as well as a bounty for whoever brings you to Hydra" he added softly.
"So if I do leave, behave myself and let them take pictures but don't answer questions?" you gave a smirk. "And Happy is going with me everywhere, keeping tabs"
"Basically" Tony nodded. "I'm glad we have an understanding"
"I just want you all to be safe, stop worrying about me" you pouted slightly and felt Bucky's hand on your knee, and slowly moving up. You started blushing once you saw the big smirk he had on his face and how high his hand had gotten.
"We are a family, and family worries about each other" Nat gave a small smile and touched your hand reassuringly.
"I'll text you when I can" Bucky promised again. "It might be short, but text me as much as you want. I'll check when I can"
"I'll text you to let you know your Bucky is still okay too" Wanda grinned from across the table.
"Just, let me know that everyone is okay, please" you flushed again.
"Here, I brought you one of my favorite books to read while we are gone. We can talk about it when I get back" Bruce passed over a scientific journal, and you couldn't help the grin that went across your face. You could see it was well read.
"I'll keep it safe" you promised.
The rest of breakfast went fairly uneventfully. Everyone seemed focused on the mission they were about to embark on, and you were focused on hoping they remained safe. Once they were all done eating, they put their dishes into the sink and started heading to the ballistics lab to get their weapons. You knew that process might take a few minutes, so you started on the dishes. Happy came over and started putting things into the dishwasher once you were done washing them, and you raised an eyebrow at him.
"Makes sure they are extra clean" he assured you with a smile. You both worked in tandem for a while longer before the dishes were done and the kitchen was fully cleaned. "Come on, lets go see them to the jet" Happy put a hand on the small of your back and started leading you out the back door.
