You had inhaled your supper, after using all your energy on your flame ability. Happy put the rest of the cookies that had been made in the middle of the table and you had one for dessert, leaning back and sighing happily to yourself.
"So, back to the little episode outside" Tony started, and you flushed a deep red. "I'm curious, how did you bring out that much power without hurting yourself?"
"I don't know, I just thought of something that makes me happy and it felt like it was just taking over me. I felt almost giddy with it" you looked down at the table, feeling shy all of the sudden.
"Was it a memory, or was it a feeling?" Bruce wasn't letting this go. He was amazed since not that long ago, the flame wings had given you second degree burns.
"A little bit of both" you mumbled and started biting your bottom lip. Nat and Pepper both looked at you knowingly and smiled to themselves.
"We shouldn't test that one too much for now. Maybe it was a one off situation" Steve crossed his arms, seeming to be deep in thought. "You did throw a lot of energy at the water. I would hate to see what would have happened if you had held onto it"
"We are going to try to focus on seeing if we can bring out your frost abilities tomorrow, see if those still work" Tony advised you softly.
"I'm willing to give it a shot" you nodded. "I'm used to the frost abilities, I never really wanted to use my flame abilities in the past. They scare me still" you admitted.
"How do they scare you?" Sam wiped his mouth after having had another cookie.
"Well, they rarely used to come out and when they did, it was always unpredictable. I always felt like I was out of control with them. Today was the same, I couldn't control them the way I am used to with the frost and ice. Its hard to explain" you chewed on your bottom lip again.
"You'll have to start training with Wanda more once she's back" Nat decided for you. "Using your abilities, finding a way to focus them better" she added.
"That's probably best, is she coming home soon?" you looked at her expectantly.
"Not while we are in lockdown" Tony shook his head. "Still waiting on a few more arrests to be made before we can lift that"
"Shouldn't we help with that?" you asked quickly.
"No, Bravo team has been in charge of that at Fury's request" Tony shook his head. "They have things handled"
"Can we leave the compound while on lockdown for anything?" you asked after a long silence while the others were finishing eating.
"No" Pepper shook her head. "What did you need? Ask Friday for it"
"I wanted a few frames, and some new books since I'm supposed to still be resting" you admitted.
"I'll show you how to order them online, and we will have them delivered express shipping" Happy smiled at you. "You haven't used your credit card yet anyways"
"Can you show me tomorrow morning?" you asked hopefully.
"Of course, then we can watch some more movies" he nodded with a grin and you danced a bit in your seat.

After everyone was done, you found most of the team had gone to the living room so you followed suit. Bucky sat closely beside you while you had Leia laying across your lap getting her snuggles in. Harry had decided to sit on Steve's lap facing him, almost demanding attention while Chewy was laying beside Tony and Pepper. Lily came into the room and laid behind Happy's head. You watched while Bucky and Sam were playing Mario Cart together, and trying to kick each other off the rainbow road. Bucky kept swearing at Sam and Sam in kind kept swearing at Bucky. You couldn't help but giggle at their antics.
"If Peter was here, he would kick both your butts" Steve chuckled.
"Language, he said butts" Tony joked, giving Pepper a kiss on her temple.
"Come on man, take the L Barnes!" Sam exclaimed while Bucky passed him and beat him to the finish line.
"I won" Bucky grinned happily, leaning over to kiss you on the cheek. "In more ways than one" he added gazing at you. You gazed into his eyes adoringly and gave him a soft smile.
"Come on man, another round" Sam started setting up the next level. Bucky just shrugged and kissed you on the cheek again before focusing back on the tv.
"We don't get enough nights like this" Bruce sighed where he was sitting on the floor in front of Nat who was rubbing his shoulders.
"This is nice" you nodded, smiling softly to yourself.
"The dogs are enjoying it" Pepper chuckled to herself while Chewy started wiggling beside her wanting more attention. "Its nice having pets around"
"They do make life more bearable" you grinned. "I was lucky with these three"
"How did you end up with three dogs anyways?" Tony looked over expectantly.
"When I was working the diner one night, about a year after Lily came into my life, there was this guy with a dog tied up in the back of his truck coming through town. He had these three sickly looking puppies in a cage in the tail gate. He came in the diner, and said he was taking them to the vet to have them put down. They weren't strong enough to be guard dogs, and couldn't sell them since they were so thin and tiny. I remember it was a pretty hot day, and I wanted to slam his stupid face into the table. They just needed a little extra love, and some water. So I took all my tip money out of my pocket and threw it on his table before walking out and taking the cage off his truck and brought them inside. It took a while to coax them out of the cage. I put some water down for them while Pops cut up some hamburger for them so I could feed them. I almost froze the water I was so angry. When I came out of the kitchen the guy took the money and had left. I promised them that day I wouldn't ever put them back in a cage, and I would take care of them. Turns out, they like to take care of me too" you smiled at the memory. "Never saw that guy again, but that's probably for the best. They are the best dogs I could have ever asked for"
"Smart man to take the money and run" Happy nodded approvingly. "I'm surprised you didn't take his other dog too"
"Oh, I almost did. If he wouldn't have taken off, I was headed to his truck to do that" you admitted. "I just was so mad. Pop's used to let me keep the dogs in the back room while I was working so they could help train them, and make sure they were fed and everything while I was busy. Ma used to go in the back with Penelope and Maria and feed them left overs all the time. Once they were two years old, I started leaving them at home more. Took a while for them to get used to me being gone for a few hours at a time, but I couldn't keep bringing them with me everywhere. Truck's too small, and in the summer its too hot. Too cold in the middle of the winter" you shrugged.
"Was it hard for them to get used to?" Pepper asked curiously.
"Yeah, they ripped apart the first couch I had, and the chair. Thankfully they are done destroying furniture if I'm not around" you giggled when you saw Tony's face. He looked appalled that they had destroyed furniture.
"Do they like toys?" Nat had noticed you didn't have any back at the cabin.
"Love them, I used to buy them when I had the extra money. Those, they destroy pretty quick. I wanted to buy them some more tomorrow once Happy shows me how to buy stuff online" you grinned. "Lily likes her catnip balls, and Chewy ate the last one I got her"
"Well Sam, are you done losing for tonight?" Bucky asked after another while of silence, putting the controller down.
"Fuck off Tinman. You only won two of three" Sam quipped back.
"I'm ready for bed" Bucky shrugged, and handed the controller to Steve.
"Its only 8pm" Tony seemed surprised.
"I need time to dance with my dame before bed" he grinned pulling on your hand to stand up. You giggled and said your goodnights while he led you out of the room towards your room.
"James, what are you up to?" you asked once you were far enough away from the living room.
"Like I said, I want a dance with you before we go to bed" he smiled, with a mischievous glint in his eye. He gave you a wink and pulled you close to give you a quick kiss on the lips.
"You want to dance for a few hours?" you quirked an eyebrow.
"Well, I have other plans" he opened the door giving your ass a playful slap on the way into your room. You giggled walking over and putting your phone on the docking station. He came up behind you and pulled you back against him with your back against his chest. He leaned down and kissed your collar bone before reaching past you and turning on your music. The room filled with your romantic playlist and he pressed a kiss on the side of your neck as he started to sway you to the music. You slowly turned around and he took your hand to kiss your palm as he pulled you close again to continue to sway to the music. You put your one hand over his shoulder and played with his hair at the back of his neck and gazed at him lovingly. He leaned down and kissed you softly on the lips before leaning his forehead against yours and closing his eyes to enjoy the moment. You smiled in spite of yourself and closed your eyes as well, feeling his metal hand rubbing the small of your back.
"What were you thinking of when the wings came out?" he asked softly and your eyes opened quickly to see he was gazing down at you. You flushed a deep red and bit your bottom lip looking down. "What's wrong?" he whispered.
"Nothing, its nothing" you smiled up at him.
"Are you going to tell me?" he smiled expectantly. "I like knowing what's going on in that pretty head of yours"
Perfect by Ed Sheeran came on, and he pulled you closer to him and you felt your pulse quicken. You weren't sure if he was ready to hear what you were thinking yet. He put you into a turn, then slowly pulled you back against him.
"I thought about you" you finally admitted. "I focused on my feelings for you" you blushed a deep red staring into his eyes. You saw him flush a little bit, then he gave a brilliant smile. He put you into another turn, and this time when he brought you back, he kissed you softly on the lips.
"I love you" he pulled back whispering it against your skin. You felt your face break into a smile that you couldn't hold back if you wanted to. "You don't have ta..." he started before you grabbed him from behind his neck and pulled him down to kiss him heatedly on the lips. You felt him groan a little as he pulled you flush against his body and he pulled back after a few moments looking at you curiously.
"I love you too James" you continued to smile. He gave that smile that lit up the room for you and he leaned down to kiss you again.
"Fucking luckiest man alive" he spoke against your lips before pulling you up by your thighs to wrap your legs around him again while he deepened the kiss.
"Luckiest dame alive" you blushed pulling back a little to gaze in his eyes. His nose brushed against yours as he leaned in for another kiss.
