Ontario's P.O.V

They swarmed us as we ran, dropping from the sky like droplets of rain.

From the corner of my eye I saw a spider launch at me from behind a tree. I drove to my right, rolling from its path only to stab another.

They were notoriously hard to kill, their front legs looking to pin you to the ground, if you made it past them you had their multiple fangs to contend with.

They were enormous, they put Beorn the skin changer in his bear form to shame. The spiders would be at least twice his size.

I barely had time to tear my sword from the first spiders skull, before I was flung through the air.

I hit the side of a tree with a loud thud, my head swimming painfully. I'd been jostled around enough in the past few hours that would put a butter churned to shame.

My sword was inches from grasp, I rolled onto my stomach reaching for it. My fingers barely touching the hilt, before the spider was upon me.

The ground shook as it reared up at me, landing millimetres either side of my waist. It growled as it lunged for my throat.

I kicked up, hitting it in the jaw at the exact same time I swung out with my sword. Managing to connect with three of its front legs, cutting them in half.

It screamed in pain, giving me enough time to place my legs on its chest, putting more distance between us.

Grasping my sword tightly between my two hands, I thrust it upwards into the vile creatures throat. Twisting it violently as it's neck tore open.

Then Dwalin was there pulling me out from beneath it as it finally fell with a groan.

"Are you alright Lass?" He asked patting me on the back, urging me to keep running, "Got to be," I replied, just as we saw Bombur get pinned down by a spider.

"Grab the legs!" I shouted, the both of us rushing to his aid. Anyone close by ran to help us.

I grabbed ahold of one of its massive back legs, digging my feet into the ground, I threw all my weight behind it as I tugged with all my strength.

"Pull!" Oín yelled.

I gritted my teeth, adjusting my grip.

All was silent for a split moment before I felt the tendons and muscle give. The legs popping out of their joints with a loud 'splat'.

I looked at the limb in disgust, before throwing it to the side, shoving the now leg less corpse off of Bombur.

Dwalin and I both wrapping an arm around his shoulder, pulling him to his feet.

It was pure chaos, one moment Dwalin was by my side, the next he had leapt on top of a spider tackling it.

"Thórin get it!" Dwalin shouted out, just as Fili was knocked to the ground. The younger dwarf shuffling backwards as fast as he could.

Grabbing his  knife, I threw it at the spider just as it was about to take a bite out of him. The blade whistling past his face, no more than a hairs breath away from hitting him. It sunk into the spiders skull.
