Evelyn awoke to the feeling of every muscle in her body crying out in pain. So she rolled over to try and get some relief and groaned as the pain doubled.

She heard a chuckle, so she opened her eyes and turned to glare at Asmodeus. Who was standing in front of the bedside table with the tantō knife in his hand.

“Who did you lose a fight to?” Asmodeus asked her, putting down the knife and walking over to Evelyn, who hadn’t moved from her position on the bed.

She closed her eyes and, ignoring her protesting muscles, sat up. “Leviathan, she taught me some knife fighting, and after we did a little hand-to-hand fighting.” Evelyn said, feeling the bed shift as Asmodeus sat down beside her.

“Well that explains it; she is one of the best fighters we have.”

Evelyn opened her eyes to glare at Asmodeus. “If I had known that I would have I would have thought twice about fighting her.”

Asmodeus rolled his eyes. “And if I had known you were ever planning on fighting with her, or anyone else for that matter, I would have informed you of that fact.”

Evelyn glared at him one last time, closed her eyes, and focused on relaxing her muscles. But she immediately tensed up as she felt Asmodeus’s hand brush her hair behind her ear and linger on her face, right below a cut on her cheek.

“What’s wrong, are you in pain?” Asmodeus asked in concern, while his thumb traced the thin cut on her cheek.

Evelyn breathed out a shaky breath before answering. “Yeah, I still am.”

She heard the smile in his voice as he answered. “I think I can help with that.”

Evelyn’s eyes flew open as she felt Asmodeus grip her hand and pull her off the bed.

When her feet touched the floor the muscles in her legs rebelled and refused to hold up her weight causing her to crash into Asmodeus’s chest. His arm snaked around her waist to hold up her weight.

Evelyn looked up and glared into Asmodeus’s smirking face. “A little warning would have been nice.”

“But where’s the fun in that.”

Evelyn scowled at him and put her hands on his chest and tried to push away from him. But the only effect of her efforts was the growing smirk on Asmodeus’s face.

Seeing as this was getting her nowhere fast Evelyn gave up her futile struggle with a sigh, leaving her arms resting on Asmodeus’s chest. “Shouldn’t you be taking me to a healer or something to fix my cuts?”

“In a minute, first I have to ask you where is the pain coming from.”

“A better question would be where isn’t the pain coming from.”

“Poor baby.” Asmodeus said, grinning down at her. “Do you want me to kiss it and make it better?” He added with a wolfish grin.

Evelyn turned bright red. “Healer. Now.” She said, hitting his chest for emphasis.

Asmodeus’s chest shook with his laughter under Eveyln’s hands, causing her hands to clench into fists as his laughter did funny things to her stomach.

“As my lady wishes.” He said once his laughter had subsided, brushing her hair away from her forehead.

Evelyn kept her eyes firmly fixed on the spot on Asmodeus’s chest directly between her hands as his head down to plant a kiss on her head.

As soon as his lips touched her skin she let out a startled gasp as a feeling warmth spread out in a wave from the point of contact to the rest of her body.

Evelyn’s eyes widened as the warmth spread to her arms and the cuts there healed right before her eyes leaving bloodstained but otherwise unblemished skin behind.

As the warmth spread to her legs her knees buckled, no longer able to hold the meager amount of weight they could before.

Asmodeus’s arm tightened around her waist and pulled impossibly closer, taking her weight to keep his lips in contact with her skin.

Once the warmth had spread to her toes and dissipated Evelyn gingerly straightened and took all of her weight, with nay a twinge from her body.

“I thought you were going to take me to a healer.” Evelyn said, raising her head to look at Asmodeus.

He removed his lips from her head, and grinned down at her. “Did I forget to mention I had the power to heal? Sorry, must have slipped my mind.”

Evelyn scowled at him and step back. He tightened his grip on her waist for a second before letting go and allowing her to pull away.

“A thank you would be appreciated.” Asmodeus said as she took a step away from him.

“Thank you.” Evelyn said.” And since you only took care of the cuts and not the dried blood I think it’s time for a shower.”

“Then it’s a good thing that Acesah had some of the clothes he had made for you delivered. I put them in the closet.”

Evelyn took a step forward and paused. “And where is the closet?” She asked turning back around, turning a little red.

Asmodeus rolled his eyes. “Forgot already? It’s the door to the left of the bathroom.”

Evelyn nodded, turned back around and walked towards the door. She opened it to reveal a walk-in closet. She walked down the line the endless line of colorful clothes looking for any that appeared to be her own, which she discovered towards the end of the line.

She quickly grabbed a pair of jeans and a shirt at random as she turned around and left the closet.

She closed the door behind her and walked into the bathroom. As she walked past the bed she saw Asmodeus laying on it and reading a book. When she reached the bathroom she put her clothes down on the floor and closed the door. As she undressed she purposefully shied away from looking in the mirror to avoid noticing anything different in the reflection that she was so used to seeing.
