Draco's P.O.V

After my sudden but awkward encounter with Potter, I couldn't help but feel as if it were no coincidence, considering how early it was in the morning, and how both of us just happened to be going for a walk alone down that very corridor.

I chose to head back to the common room, as for some reason I no longer felt like it was worth going for a walk.

The next morning at breakfast I sat in between Crabbe and Blaise.

"Hey Malfoy, have you heard the news?" Crabbe asked me.
"What news?"
"Potter and that Weasley girl have broken up!" Crabbe said amusingly.

My heart leapt. They were no longer together! I couldn't help but wonder why.

"Did you hear why?" Blaise suddenly came in, addressing the question mainly to Crabbe. I took a sip of my pumpkin juice, trying to hide my excitement.

"Yeah, apparently Potter is gay!" Crabbe and Blaise broke into laughter. I suddenly spat out my drink. WHAT?!My heart started beating fast.

Merlin's beard, that explains the staring, I thought to myself. I almost couldn't contain my excitement, but I knew I had to play along.

"Pfft, Potter! Gay!" I started laughing with them.
"Well I've got to be honest, that sure does explain a lot!" I said, still laughing.

Crabbe and Blaise paused and looked at me at once, looking confused. Crap. I clearly had said the wrong thing.

"What does it explain Malfoy?" Blaise questioned.
"Well- just um, things," I said panicking. They looked at each other and shrugged, then started laughing again. I joined in.

At that moment I saw Potter and Ginny, they walked past our table and out of the Great Hall.

Oh no, did Potter see me laughing? And was Potter really gay? If he was, this gave me a chance.
