Licorice hardly had a penny to his name growing up. People looked down on him. Disrespected him. Made him feel powerless and weak.
Nothing he could do was good enough. Everything was a reminder that he wasn't important. That he didn't deserve what they had.
When you're treated like you're less valuable than three seconds of someone's time, you learn quickly that you have to be better than them in all the ways that count. You have to be smarter. You have to be quicker. You have to be stronger.
So, Licorice evolved over time. The scared, broken little kid he had been was long forgotten. Replaced with something that people wouldn't overlook so easily. Something that got respect.
And if that meant being the villain...
Then so be it.
With that, he fashioned a look based off the Grim Reaper and took to necromancy. After all, what's more respected than death itself?
