Chapter 10: Is Jaehyun-ssi Jeongwoo's dad?

Naeun went back to the army base to realize that Jaehyun had taken leave. She had tried calling Jaehyun a couple of times but she she didn't know Jaehyun had already blocked her number. If they were to separate, Jaehyun wanted nothing to do with her as he didn't want anyone, including chaeyoung, to misunderstand anything.

Unable to find Jaehyun, Naeun looked for Johnny, hoping to know where Jaehyun went.

"You got to leave him alone! You already lied to him for four years, what more would you want from him?" Johnny became increasingly frustrated after fifteen minutes of talking to Naeun.

"I know I lied to him about that night, but it's ridiculous how he moved on from a four year relationship just because of a small lie. I need to explain to him."

"Small lie?! Your lie caused another two people to suffer so much over the last four years."

"Two people?" Naeun furrowed her eyebrows and looked at Johnny questioningly, "what do you mean by two people?"

"Whatever it is, stop bothering them now!" Johnny walked away. He was angry at how stubborn Naeun could be.

Naeun, on the other hand, tried to guess what Johnny's words meant. For Jaehyun to leave her, does it mean the girl he slept with is back, even with a child? She was determined to find out who the lady was. It's not hard. Military bases are full of men. She knew all the female soldiers and she knew it's not them. It can't be the ahjummas preparing their meals either. That leaves her with the military doctors or nurses.

Naeun then went to the military hospital and asked around. Due to Chaeyoung's low profile, and how tight lipped Chaeyoung's nurse was, she did not manage to get any information.

In Chaeyoung's office

"Dr Park, Naeun-ssi has been asking around if Jaehyun-ssi visited the hospital these few days, and just a couple of days ago, he came here with Jeongwoo..." Chaeyoung's nurse asked as her voice trailed off towards the end, unsure if what she asked is inappropriate.

"Just focus on our work." Chaeyoung looked up and replied calmly.

"Okay.." Chaeyoung's nurse replied, but eyes still looking at her, full of concern.

"Anything else?"

"Dr Park, is Jaehyun-ssi Jeongwoo's dad? I haven't seen any male figure with Jeongwoo before Jaehyun-ssi came."

Chaeyoung looked up and looked at her nurse for a second, before nodding. She trusts her nurse, who was asking not because she wanted to gossip. Her nurse truly cared for Chaeyoung after following Chaeyoung for many years. Chaeyoung has always appeared cold but she was still kind towards people around her.

"Uh! That's good!" The nurse exclaimed.

"Good?" Chaeyoung looked at the nurse with a confused look.

"Yes, because I have always been worried that no one looks after you and Jeongwoo." The nurse gave a sheepish smile.

Chaeyoung smiled gently, "let's get back to work, you may leave once you are done with your work."

"Yes, Dr Park." The nurse bowed and took her leave.

Just then, Chaeyoung received a call from Jaehyun.

"Chaeyoung, am I disturbing you?"

"No, it's not busy in the hospital today."

"Aren't you on leave? Why are you back? You have to take care of your health and rest too!" Chaeyoung sensed a hint of concern in Jaehyun's voice, but quickly brushed it off.

"I had nothing to do anyway."

"If you have nothing to do, you should have come over and looked for me, I mean, Jeongwoo!"

"Uh..." Chaeyoung could not reply anything. True enough, her previous off days were all spent with Jeongwoo. But since Jeongwoo went to the Jung family, she decided to spend her time at work instead of letter her mind wander off if she had spent it alone.

"See you in 30 minutes."

"Wait, what?"

"I am bringing you to my house so that Jeongwoo can spend some time with his mum." Without giving any time for Chaeyoung to respond, Jaehyun had already hung up the phone. And without realizing, a small smile formed on Chaeyoung's face - not just because she would be visiting her son, but also because it's been a while since she felt so much warmth and concern from someone.
