Chapter 11: Happiness that doesn't belong to her

As promised, Jaehyun was already at the entrance of the hospital. No, in fact, he reached within 25 minutes.

Chaeyoung boarded the car and was greeted by Jaehyun's attractive smile and dimples, making Chaeyoung's heart skip a beat.

"Eomma!" That excited greeting made Chaeyoung realized that Jeongwoo was also in the car, sitting happily in the baby seat. Chaeyoung's heart instantly warmed. Jaehyun had specially brought Jeongwoo along while picking her up. Not only so, the fact that there's even a baby chair in the car showed how he is taking his responsibility as a father seriously.

Anyone who saw this scene would think of it as a happy family of three - a husband and son picking their wife and mum up from work.

Naeun who was about to leave the hospital after a fruitless trip to find out who the lady Jaehyun slept with was. But she spotted a familiar car at the entrance of the hospital and saw a female figure stepping into the car. She clenched her fists with the realization that even though Jaehyun was on leave, he still made a trip to the military hospital to pick Chaeyoung up from work. There was even a child at the back of the car. Naeun finally got the answer she was looking for.

Meanwhile, Jaehyun brought Chaeyoung to the nearest shopping mall. When Chaeyoung was puzzled why they ended up visiting a shopping mall, Jaehyun simply shrugged and said they needed to get more necessities for Jeongwoo.

The three of them ended up spending the entire afternoon in the shopping mall, shopping for new clothes and toys for Jeongwoo. Jeongwoo was very happy. Although he doesn't fully understand what a "father" is at his age, he knew he is receiving a lot of love from Jaehyun. The fact that he was standing in between Jaehyun and Chaeyoung, holding each of their hands, makes him feel a lot more loved and secured.

They visited a toy shop where Jeongwoo found his favourite dinosaur toy which costs almost 200,000 won. Jeongwoo held the toy tightly and looked at Chaeyoung sheepishly, the same look whenever he would like to buy a toy. And as usual, Chaeyoung pursed her lips and shook her head at Jeongwoo, refusing his request. Because of Jeongwoo's health condition, she had been prudent with her spending on Jeongwoo. Of course she would still buy toys for him, but that's after a lot aegyo from Jeongwoo.

Jaehyun saw how Jeongwoo looked slightly disappointed when Chaeyoung refused to buy the toy. Jeongwoo being a very sensible boy compared to peers of his age, did not throw a tantrum. Instead, he simply put the toy back, with a little reluctance. Jaehyun then smiled and squatted down so that his eyes met Jeongwoo's eyes, "Jeongwoo loves that toy? How about appa buy this for you?"

Jeongwoo's eyes lit up and he nodded excitedly. He then turned towards Chaeyoung with a sheepish smile. That bright smile of Jeongwoo also brought a small smile to Chaeyoung's face, which caught Jaehyun's eyes. He had to admit that her smile was beautiful and caused his heart to flutter.

"Hey, you don't have to do this. It's too expensive." Chaeyoung told Jaehyun as she felt a little bad that Jaehyun needed to spend money on Jeongwoo.

"It's okay, what matters most to me now is that Jeongwoo and you are happy." Jaehyun smiled warmly at Chaeyoung and Jeongwoo. This is the second time of the day Chaeyoung feel her heart fluttering because of Jaehyun. While she enjoyed the care he was giving her and Jeongwoo, she was also afraid. She didn't dare to put hopes in a happiness that doesn't belong to her.
