PROLOUGE

Don’t get too attached, everybody leaves anyway.

Something I wish I had known before you left me. 

Before you broke my heart. 

The sounds of ophelia pitiful cries fullied the hospital room as I gently rock her back and forth in my arms.

The emotion of happiness and sadness arise when I realise that I am a father and that ophelia would never get to have a normal family because of her mother.

Because of me.

Images of Valentina and Noah laying naked in my bed filled my head as I felt my heart breaking into a million pieces before I began to close my eyes and push those thoughts away.

The calm voice of the nurse broke free as I felt my eyelids open.

"Sorry to disturb you but I need to wash the baby so if you don't mind?"

I gently gave the baby to the kind nurse who had a smile on her face as she began to leave the hospital room leaving Valentina and I alone.

"She looks just like you." The sweet lovely beautiful euphoric voice that I once loved flooded my ears.

I looked down trying to avoid her so she wouldn’t see me cry as I felt my eyes start to water and a lump forming  in my throat.

I felt an irrational anger filled inside me as I began to think about the night I caught her and my driver in my own bed. Our own bed.

“Enzo-”

“Just stop.” I said as I finally made eye contact with her. I felt a tear slip down from my eyes as I quickly wiped it away.

"I didn't mean to sleep with him. I swear. I was feeling lonely and he happened to be there and one thing led to another and it just happened."

"AND YOU THINK THAT MAKES IT FUCKING OKAY?"

"Of course not! I regret everything that I did. That happened. I really do but one thing I don't regret is still loving you and having your baby.

Enzo I still love you. I will always love you and ophelia just please tell me what I need to do to make it right please!"

Val's tired eyes met mine as the emotion that is displayed on her face says how sorry and regretful she is but a part of me isn't willing to accept that she is indeed sorry.

"Enzo just please- Tell what I need to fix this because I will do anything  to show you how sorry I am. Anything!"

Tears welled up in her ocean blue eyes as she spoke, conveying the stark shift from a gaze that once made me feel at home to one now filled with nothing but disgust and hatred.

"Please!"

"Ok fine. You said you will do anything am I right?"

"Yes anything" she said hopefully.

"From now on I want you to pack your things from my house-"

"Wait-"

"Don't you dare cut me off! I want you to pack your things and leave my house and sign those divorce papers that you will find on the bed when you leave this hospital because it's over between us."

"Wait-What about ophelia? Don't you think she deserves to have a family that will make her happy?"

"If you hadn't destroyed that, she would have had one. Regardless, I will make sure that we both have custody of her. Although I don't believe you deserve to be her mother, But I think she deserves to know who her mom is, and I will never take that away from her."

"please don't do this" she whispered while shaking her head as tears fell down from her cheeks.

"But as for you, Until the divorce papers are done. I do not want to see your face ever again."

"Please enzo don't do this!"

My heart ached as I mustered the strength to say goodbye to Valentina,"Goodbye Valentina." My voice trembling with sorrow, before turning away and leaving the hospital as my heart shattered into a million pieces.
